It is that time again despite covid when the nerves and butterflies in your stomach churn. Whether you are a kid, teen, parent, coach, etc. My family moved to Ganado in 2001. I remember moving in behind a prominent and hardcore byb member. He asked me (I was going into 6th grade), you move here to play football? At that moment I had no idea football would become so much to me. Up to that point I had only played baseball as I was from Tomball where baseball has and does rule still today. It is kind of funny that I would never be as good at baseball after moving to Ganado but sometimes that is the way it works out. I am a little envious of Shiner/Cuero/Hallettsville, etc because they are good at multiple sports year in and year out.

My brothers who were older and I would all go on to play football for Ganado.

One year in 8th grade I remember staying up all night and sleeping in the press box before the 2003 season with 2 of my friends. I remember always playing Shiner in scrimmages or games throughout Jr. High or HS. That game/scrimmage always was and will be a barometer of where Ganado was/is. Throw in Refugio and the same thing can be said. My hope is for Ganado to reach the level of both of those programs in terms of tradition/skill/coaching lack of turnaround/ etc. We are on the right track as of last year and I do expect that to continue for about a decade or longer based on what we have coming up. All of the Bures and many others who played in the 1990's-2000's have and will continue to play some good football at the lower levels.

I can't wait to see what Ganado does in the coming year(s) as the Ganado kids pass through Warriors/Braves/Indians.

Here is to all kids throughout the state. May they all stay safe, work hard, and be protected by God!

Clear eyes,
Full hearts,
Can't lose!!!

36 - numbers will be tight if we are going to have a JV. Last year we disbanned the JV team 4 weeks into the season due to injuries. hope we can stay healthy

I remember Goldthwaite being so good in the 1990's and also when y'all beat us in 2010. How many kids were coming out then versus now?

It hurts me to say it, but Goldthwaite is like the Nebraska of 2a football right now. Historic program (especially in the 90's) but recently just seems to be down. Hopefully there is a change soon for I have much respect for that program.

I'm a Husker fan too, always had a great deal of respect for Tom Osborne and the way he carried that program for so long. Would like to see Scott Frost take the program in a new direction after his 2 less than impressive years going 4-8 & 5-7. Go big red!
