That's one you don't see everyday!!!
Yea kind of a gut feeling pick. They bring back everyone and put together a decent season last year. Bringing back that many kids is worth a lot at this level.
Their defense needs to improve, in their 3 district losses they gave up an average of 49 points. Turnovers killed them in the Clarendon game as they lost 36-44. In the preview story I read on them had a kid move back that hadn't been in Quanah since elementary school. Coach stated in a preview story that he is just as fast as their stud RB who returns.
Yea they have a chance be really good. We'll see how it pans out this season.

I personally don’t put much stock into scrimmages but we scrimmages them next week! Guess Lindsay got tired of beating us in scrimmages as we have two new scrimmage opponents this year in Quanah and Alvord.

I think the scrimmages let you know how much depth you have.

For the Cats, it will really shine a spotlight on a half dozen freshmen and 5 sophomores. They have Burton/Hempstead next Friday and then Lexington the following Thursday. Let’s see who wants to put a lick on Lexington’s 6’1 225 lb horse at RB

A lot that depends on the quality of opponent you are playing. We always seem to play a weak opponent and we look all world but in the back of your mind you think are we that good or is our opponent that bad. We looked the 85 Bears against a team that went 3-8 but then have looked like we aren’t going to win a game that season when facing a 3A Div I Championship contender! Everyone uses scrimmages differently, some teams run their defense base, others blitz, run stunts etc. Some teams drop into a prevent defense on the last play of a series to keep a team from scoring, while the offensive team is just running a script of plays and they pick up a first down on the last play and both sides are pleased with the outcome of the play as what was the goal?

Other thing I have seen from in scrimmages is coaches correcting a players alignment. IMO you lose a coaching opportunity in that you align the kid properly in the moment, but if you put it on film you probably can teach them better by showing them an example instead of moving them to put them in right position in the heat if the moment so you don’t “lose” a scrimmage!
