My birthday is on the 22nd. I always seem to have the magazine for it. I am not a big fan of the lack coverage for 3a and down but I still love it. The only reason why I pay for a membership is so I don't have to wait until August and search everywhere for one. They put a very limited number out there.

You can buy one at the 7on7 state tournament if you're there.

This year they lost in the game before us for football and softball. That seems to be a good omen.

Our mlb graduated a year early and leaves for the Army in a few weeks.
One of our linemen is focusing on baseball and isn't playing.
Supposedly one of our defensive starters might be moving away.

I just wish we could have move ins once in every decade at least.

Yikes! Unfortunately this happens to everyone. Even Shiner! I can think of probably handful of athletes over the years that have made similar moves here. It especially seems to happen in years immediately following a talent drop. Where a rebuild is imminent!

My thing is if you're in a small town and not going big time in let's say baseball like Refugio's Kelley. I understand if football could jeopardize your college career in another sport. Football is definitely a sport that many kids are unwilling to put in the work. There has been a decline in football participation over the last decade across the board.

One benefit of playing in a 2a or 3a is you can play multiple sports without being a great athlete. I was 6 foot 170-220 in hs from freshman to senior year. Nothing special but I was able to play 3 or 4 sports.

I was a wannabe athlete before I was a hasbeen athlete. Moved to Texas my junior year from Germany to a 4A school decided to try my hand at football even though I had never really played in pads. Neighbor had told me the kickers were really bad the previous years, but lo and behold this particular year they weren't half bad. I knew the only way I would see the field was the on JV so I moved myself to JV locker room as this particular program sophomores were on JV and Jr and Srs were on varsity. I think this JV bunch could have beaten the varsity group. Anyway I had my struggles with football, didn't understand blocking schemes, reading keys, etc... I got passed on from position group to position group. What I didn't realize is our basketball program was pretty dang good and if you wanted to play you better be in their Athletic Period and not football! By no means was I superstar and we had a great basketball team that went 30-0 and were upset in the 1st round of the playoffs. The runner-up team from our district lost in the State Semi-finals. Anyway, I wasn't going to help the program down the road so I was cut from JV team, so I played for local Boy's Club team we had 4-6 teams, averaged a double double, wasn't like I was going to the NBA! A few years down the road I was invited to play on a Wichita Falls City League with a couple of the guys from that team. Anyway, since I struggled at football I must not have very good at baseball so when they had open sign-ups and the coaches scoffed at me signing up - I decided not to play. Again I was going to MLB, but I loved baseball. My senior year I wound the filmer for the basketball team when one of the other managers failed as I had friend who was a manager. I also wound up the baseball manager and kept the book, probably why it drives me crazy when people don't score baseball/softball correctly like it's little league and when junior hits a ground ball to the 2nd basemen and it goes through his legs and the outfielder overthrows the cut-off and the runner gets to 2nd it irritates me that is scored a double instead of two errors!

We moved from Tomball to Ganado in 2001. I was the youngest of 4 siblings. We had 3 athletes in the family and my brother was salutalortian. He wasn't very athletic but did film our football games as a senior. His buddy wasn't athletic either and helped film too. Long story short both went to the Navy and live in Virginia now. They married wealthy women and live in a 700k and 1.2 million dollar house. Being a jock is overrated. Treating people means more.
