De leon Football
I see where the AD/Head Football job is posted on the District's website. This job should draw some good interest. Has had moderate success in the past.

Coach Marwitz built a really good foundation. There were 56 kids on jv and varsity last year. We should be state ranked in preseason with 16/22 starters back. We have nice facilities and should be a highly sought after position.
Re: De leon Football
I think the foundation was already laid. They were pretty dang good from 2015-2018. Marwitz got the job in '21 went 0-10.

Re: De leon Football
Everyone has known for the last 10 years that De Leon's current JR/SO/FR classes were going to be good and deep by De Leon standards, regardless of the coach.
There was a definite 4 year talent downturn between Coach Yeager's last season and 2023, like you see in most small towns not named Mart, Refugio, Shiner, etc.
There is another nice run of talent coming. Looking at the youth programs and families, the next coach is going to have some Jimmies and Joes for at least 8 years. Coach Marwitz will do well in Brownwood and wish him the best.

Heard from someone who interviewed that there were 20 football dads on the committee that asked questions. That is unheard of. Sup never advertised the job on THSCA and TASA. Only 35 applied. Curious if some of our Bearcat fans that post on here can explain why a Sup would do this? Trying to keep her job and not make a hard decision?

Never heard of booster dads interviewing coaches. Now we have the byb in Ganado that formed in 1995. Many have branded tattoos and all. I am a member but don't have those. We give money for football equipment, food for game days, and football scholarships for seniors.

Brennan Whitaker will be hired as new De Leon head football coach and AD at next Monday’s board meeting. He’s currently offensive coordinator at Birdville High School in North Richland Hills. He has previous coaching stops at Southlake Carroll, Hamilton and Tioga.

Re: De leon Football
I noticed one of our former players announced he will be an assistant coach at DeLeon. His older brother got our bus stuck leaving DeLeon following our game in 2021 when trying to get back on the Hwy. There was road construction on the Hwy and had to go do through a ditch and got her stuck!!
