Region 4 Week 3 GOTW

Post by Comanchealumni06 »

This week was a bit tough, I’m making a change here. I’m gonna take #1 Refugio vs Edna (3AD1). Edna has picked up a couple of quality wins in their first 2 weeks. And Refugio hasn’t had to play 4 quarters yet. Thanks to some deeper insight from our friend the Professor. This should be the game of the week in Region 4.

Other games of note:

Possibly 4AD1 SA Davenport @ #2 Shiner
#1 Mart @ Flatonia
#6 Mason @ San Saba
Ganado @ 3AD1 Hallettsville

I think the Refugio/Edna game is going to be closer than most people expect. Edna beat East Bernard 24-7, and Bay City 31-13, so they have already been in some close games where the starters have played most of the game. Refugio has played two blowout games where the starters have only played the first half in both games. I don’t know that Refugio is going to be ready to play 4 quarters of football, against a big, physical team. This game should make both teams better.
It’s a pretty good day when you’re on your way and you like where you’re going, and you’ve got what you want and you want what you’ve got and you’re wise enough to know it.

I just think Refugio is better then Edna. But your a fan of the squad and have seen them more then I. I’m gonna change it to yalls game. I think Shiner will fight in their game. But I ultimately believe we will win. May be a bigger school, but they’re young and a new program. After more thought I do believe Refugio vs Edna will be a much better game. Thanks for the insight.

I wasn’t trying to get you to change the Refugio/Edna game to the GOTW. I was just commenting on the game. DCTF has Edna picked second, behind Industrial, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Edna wins that district. They have 9 returning starters on offense and 8 returning on defense. That isn’t many positions to fill. We’ll see how good they, and how good we are on Friday night.

Oh I know, the more I looked into it the more I realized that this would most likely be a much better game. No worries. I think this is the correct pick for this week. Your insight was just a part of it. I’m supposed to look into these games a little more to determine the true best game of the week. And I believe it’s this one.

Man, what a game. A classic size versus speed matchup. Edna was huge and ran the ball effectively against Refugio. Refugio threw the ball against Edna, and then late in the game was able to use the sweep to get outside and gain some big chunks of yardage against Edna. The game was pretty much a 3 point game until the fourth quarter, when Refugio was able to take advantage of some big plays (KO return for a TD, Interception return for a TD, and a big run for a TD) to open up a 17 point advantage. I think Edna and Refugio will both win their districts, and make some noise in the playoffs. imho
