Well, Shiner lost a lot of seniors. But the group coming in behind them is still very solid! Tough group of seniors coming up that just didn’t get a ton of playing time due to all the seniors before them. We’ve still got a lot of size on the line and both Brooks returning. Our QB supposedly has an arm too, and he brings more size with him then our previous QB. Shiners offense might look a little different this coming season.

Shiner will be tough again but not head and shoulders better than the rest. I could be wrong but I think Refugio and Shiner will be neck and neck and the winner will take state.

Ganado should be slightly improved as we are graduating a few starters on both sides of the ball but 2021 should be a little better. 2022 we are expected to have a top 5 team in the state.

Oh no I’m not claiming that they are. But they will be top 3 again imo. And could very well be hoisting the trophy again in December

I know. I do think and I will pull for Shiner to win state again. I just think the gap with Refugio next year and Shiner will be closed. I'd still give Shiner the edge.

I'm just hoping Mart makes the playoffs next season.

Windthorst is losing quite a bit of talent, that being said the building blocks are there. It all starts up front we return 3 of 4 on the defensive line and 3 of 5 on the offensive line. Lots of shoes to be filled in the skilled positions. That being said I hope we have the same buy-in that the kids had previous offseason.

Our DC posted this on FB following the Mart game:

Starting the first week of January 2020 we implemented a new strength and speed program that we knew would help us. If some of you remember those boys couldn’t walk the whole first week of that program. As the weeks went on the kids began to see themselves getting stronger and started to buy in.
Then comes March 2020.....the shutdown. From spring break until June 7 we weren’t able to workout with the kids but they did some work on their own at their houses.
UIL then announces that we can start workouts June 8. Here comes the impressive part....From June 8 to August 1 we had over 98% participation from grades 7-12! 98%!!!

That 98% gives me faith that we will be ok next year. The buy in is there from the kids and I have faith in our coaching staff. There might be some bumps along the road but when the games truly count I expect we will be in the thick of the district chase.
