Region 2 - Week 9

Post by Windthorstfan »

While on paper Crawford versus Bosqueville appears to be the best game of the week in the Region, I think Alba-Golden versus Bogata Rivercrest will be the closest game in the region. Alba-Golden, Bogata Rivercrest, and Honey Grove all play each other to end the season in District 6. One of these teams will finish 4th. I think Crawford rolls Bosqueville by 3-4 TDs.

Not much that sticks out and says wow record-wise but some important match-ups for playoff positions.
Collinsville @ Tioga for playoff positioning in D1 D5
Cayuga hosting Dawson could be for 3rd/4th.

I think there will be a lot of points scored in the Quanah @ Seymour game. I think Quanah finishes 4th in the district behind AC, Seymour, and Olney.

Division I
District 5
Alvord (5-2,2-0) over Trenton (4-2, 1-1)
Collinsville (3-4, 1-1) over Tioga (3-4, 1-1)
Lindsay (3-4, 1-1) over Tom Bean (0-6, 0-2)

District 6
Bogata Rivercrest (2-6, 1-3) over Alba-Golden (3-4, 0-3)
Celeste (5-2, 3-1) over Como-Pickton (2-5, 0-3)
Cooper (7-0, 3-0) over Honey Grove (2-5, 1-2)

District 7
Crawford (7-0, 3-0) over Bosqueville (5-2, 3-0)
Tolar (5-2, 2-1) over Rio Vista (3-4, 1-3)
Valley Mills (3-5, 1-3) over Itasca (1-6, 0-3)

District 8
Dawson (3-4, 2-0) over Cayuga (1-6, 1-1) - intriguing match-up despite records. Score comparing shows Dawson to be a TD favorite.
Italy (5-2, 2-0) over Axtell (2-5, 0-2)
Marlin (4-3, 1-1) over Kerens (1-6, 0-2)

Division II
District 5
Lockney (6-1, 1-0) over Hamlin (0-8, 0-2) Hamlin has only scored 13 points on the season
Roscoe (5-1, 1-0) over Crosbyton (4-4, 1-1)

District 6
Archer City (4-2, 2-0) over Munday (0-7, 0-2)
Olney (3-4, 1-1) over Electra (3-4, 0-2)
Seymour (4-3, 2-0) over Quanah (1-6, 1-1)

District 7
Petrolia (7-0, 1-0) over Era (2-6, 1-1)
Windthorst (6-1, 0-1) over Chico (0-8, 0-2)

District 8
Cross Plains (4-3, 0-2) over Meridian (1-6, 0-1) if all likelihood for 4th and 5th place in district.
Santo (7-0, 1-0) over Hico (4-4, 1-1)

With Windthorst’s district going easterly, I forget that Petrolia is there and is going to still face off against the Trojans and Muenster. That district could still go couple different ways if someone stumbles.

Lockney (6-1, 1-0) over Hamlin (0-8, 0-2) Hamlin has only scored 13 points on the season. As Windthorstfan said we have only 13 points to our name this season. Opening drive of the season and can’t remember the other. We have played with a full deck for 2 games this season and the rest 1 to as many as 6 of our starters out. Only senior returning starter our center played with a messed up collar bone that needed surgery from day one, and then suffered a broken knee cap finished the game then played 2 more before Drs realized it wasn’t just a deep bruise. He’s out for the remainder of the season. Our JR QB/LB who the only defensive starter from last year has had a fracture in his back fo who knows how long finally got an MRI and took him out rest of season. If It could happen it has this year, I feel for the boys and the coaches. We have freshman and sophomores who had even limited or no JV experience playin both sides.

I counted 7 or 8 out when we played.

I know we have had some weeks that discipline has taken a few out on top of the others, sad deal!

Crawford is the best team Goldthwaite has played all year.
Very disciplined.

Alba-Golden 15 Rivercrest 14. Rivercrest got the ball on their 6 with about a minute to go. They moved the ball to the AG 40 with 35 seconds, but couldn’t get closer and turned the ball over on downs.

Cayuga 27 Dawson 20

Santo kept their spoiler chances alive beating Hico 34-14, was tied at 14 @ the half. Meet Albany next week for District Championship.

Roscoe 58 Crosbyton 8 - this was actually close for a while with Crosbyton leading 8-6 before Roscoe pulled away.

Seymour 41 Quanah 28 - went back and forth in the first half but Seymour took 28-21 at halftime and didn’t look back.

Crawford 54 Bosqueville 14 - was 21-7 @ Half

Tioga 23 Collinsville 13 - Tioga lead 23-0 before C’ville scored last 13 points. Those 13 points might make C’ville the 2nd seed if Alvord beats Lindsay and Tioga in the next two weeks and CVille wins out as expected as CVille, Lindsay, and Tioga would be tied for second but C’ville would have points difference tiebreaker as other games were 20+ wins for the winning teams.
