Riviera beat Shiner twice this past Saturday in Shiner. They are a very solid club, their #4 hitter came into the weekend batting .660 and left 5-5. They look to be very well coached also, they don't give you any gifts. The one thing I will take out of those 2 games is they came up here to win, they pitched their #1 and #2 guys, our coach pitched our #3 and #4. Hope to see them again down the road, I think we'll be alright with one of our big boys on the mound. As far as rankings go, I have seen the #4, #6, and #11 play so far, #11 is cream of the crop of those 3, but it'll all play out soon enough.

Who makes these ranking anyway? I don't really care but I am curious why Tolar isn't in these rankings. They are 10-5 with only one of those 5 losses coming from a 2A school , Crawford, oh yeah last years state finalist. Their other 4 losses come from 3a and 4a schools like Brownwood, Comance, Springtown....They beat the number 3 team in the state , Reisel, 15-0. There are plenty of 5 loss teams on this list but you would be hard pressed to find one better than Tolar. Rankings don't mean anything in reality but I was just wondering who makes them and what is the justification for omitting Tolar?

Pretty sure Tolar is not receiving "credit" for beating "Riesel" since they probably played a combination of their JV and varisty team - Riesel was still in the basketball playoffs the weekend that game was played. Riesel also lost to Valley Mills that weekend their only two "losses". Outside of beating a depleted Riesel team who have they beat that warrants them being ranked?

Ok so dont credit them for a win that they earned and (Im sure that Tolar was playing basket ball that weekend too) but what about the rest of what I said? It does not matter, I just think that you would be hard pressed to find a tougher strength of schedule on the loss side and still has some quality wins. I see your point on Reisel though and did agree but if these rankers dig THAT DEEP into their criteria for ranks then Tolar is truly getting shafted.

Oh Im sorry , they havent beat "ANYBODY". Should not even have said anything nor had an opinion. ----I have seen Bosqueville, Chico, Mart and some other good teams this year and I can tell you Tolar belongs up there with them.

And number 10 , Crawford had to come from behind, the other day, just to barely eek out a win versus Valley Mills. I mean Tolar would beat VM by 20. Just saying.-----

I am probably wrong here @ Windhorstfan, sorry just putting my opinion out there on what I have seen. Ya'll may be playing way better ball up there than we are down here. Baseball is a funny game where one of day can really cost ya anyways.

Didn't mean to offend you just stating why I could see why Tolar isn't ranked. Their body of work, "schedule", doesn't "excite" the pollsters outside of Deleon Tolar has not beat anyone of "substance" that will make noise in the playoffs. And when they have stepped up in competition, it hasn't turned out well for them. You know as well as I that any given day anything is possible and the ball can and will take funny bounces.

Tolar lost on Tuesday the 23rd to Windthorst by a bucket!!! Riesel lost on the 26th the day of the Riesel-Tolar game.

The THSB website is a good website to look up scores and kind of compare teams.

This what they show as Tolar's results:
02/26 Tournament Riesel Indians 15-0(W) 1-0-0
02/27 Tournament Pantego 3-5(L) 1-1-0
02/27 Tournament Meridian Yellow Jackets 2-22(W) 2-1-0
03/01 Regular Comanche Indians 15-5(L) 2-2-0
03/03 Tournament Brownwood Lions 0-16(L) 2-3-0
03/03 Tournament Springtown Porcupines 4-8(L) 2-4-0
03/04 Tournament Valley View Eagles 8-4(W) 3-4-0
03/04 Tournament Crawford Pirates 4-11(L) 3-5-0
03/07 District Gordon Longhorns 22-0(W) 4-5-0
03/14 District Santo Wildcats 27-2(W) 5-5-0
03/18 District Lipan Indians 25-1(W) 6-5-0
03/22 District Gorman Panthers 10-4(W) 7-5-0
03/29 District Ranger Bulldogs 24-0(W) 8-5-0
04/01 District De Leon Bearcats 4-2(W) 9-5-0
04/05 District Gordon Longhorns 11-0(W) 10-5-0

so it's not like they don't know about Tolar.

Im not offended and welcome another opinion ( and value yours ). All I was saying was I have seen several of the teams in the top 25 and I feel like Tolar belongs in there somewhere but, you never know they could be one and done. Thanks sir and good luck to you and yours.

They put out a Top 40 every week but you have to subscribe to their newsletter which will cost you $32.35

THSB Newsletter is sent by email weekly during the high school baseball season. It contains extra information that you won’t find on the website. The newsletter always includes The Top 40 for each classification (only the Top 25 is published), highlights players who were very good the previous week, informs you of the hottest teams and provides other kinds of information that will make you one of the top informed people regarding Texas High School baseball.

I wish what they did for TX HS baseball I could do for the 2A Football world - unfortunately I don't have the time. I would love to post game capsule and stats of all games played across the state unfortunately most HS don't have a Sports Information Director that could easily provide that information.
