J.C. closes out a scrappy Granger team 6-3 for the sweep. Slawinski pitched a complete game with 17K, 3H, 1BB, and 1ER. The Eagles stranded close to 10 runners on base which is something they can't be doing if they want to win next week.

D28 Bi-District Scores:

Harper 9 Rosebud-Lott 0 Final (Game 2 tomorrow)

Refugio must of won the coin flip, they got J.C. with a one gamer last season. It is always fun to see these two play each other no matter the sport. The Bobcats are down from last season, especially in the pitching department, so I see Shiner taking this one. Has Peterson ever even lost a game as a pitcher?

Yeah they definitely must have won the flip. Shiner pretty much always go for 3 games. And I’m not sure about that. He might have against some bigger schools.

Either way he is definitely one of the more dominant 2A pitchers I have seen in recent memory. I think he will also excel at Sam Houston State!

Johnson City vs. Iola

Game 1- Friday, May 12th, Brenham, 7:00 PM
Game 2- Saturday, May 13th, Brenham, 11:00 AM
Game 3- If necessary follows game 2

Analysis:

This should be an interesting matchup. In the last round Iola made West Hardin's pitching look like batting practice while J.C.'s pitching was dominant with 30 Ks in two games against Granger. Iola is a battle tested team from a tough district that played Mumford very close in both of their games, so they are for real and J.C. cannot underestimate them. The Bulldogs have a really good ace and can hit the ball well. The Eagles will need to hit the ball better than they did against Granger and cut back on the errors if they want to move on. That being said, while Iola did face top notch pitching in their district(Mumford & Burton), they were shutout in all four of those games and I think that will be the difference in this series.

Prediction:

J.C. in 2 close games

Harper vs. Dallardsville Big Sandy:

One Game: Friday, May 12th, Fayetteville, 5:00 PM

Analysis:

This looks to be another good matchup. Big Sandy comes into this game with a rich playoff history and as district champs. They have some good pitchers in Carter and Brown and seem to have some good bats as well. Harper looked really good in all phases of the game against a tough Rosbud-Lott team last week. I somewhat question the strength of Big Sandy's district as the Wildcats struggled with the 4th place team and the other three teams lost in blowout fashion to D-26. I think the Longhorns are more battle tested and if Lake pitches like he did last week the Longhorns should take this one.

Prediction:

Harper Advances in a close game

Mason vs. Mumford

Game 1- Thursday, May 11th, Georgetown Eastview, 5:00 PM
Game 2- Follows game 1
Game 3- Saturday, May 13th, Georgetown Eastview, 12:00 PM

Analysis:

Mason comes into this one on a little bit of a hot streak, but runs into a juggernaut this round. Mumford has been dominant all season and they return essentially everyone from the team that pushed Shiner in the regional finals last season. The Mustangs have dominant pitching and are just really good in every facet. The Punchers will have to jump on them early if they want to have any chance at winning this series which will be a tall task. Mumford will be a heavy favorite going into this one, but Mason is one of those teams that always seems to hang around so you can't ever count them out.

Prediction:

Mumford in 3 (Although another Mason upset is possible)

I watched it on NFHS. Very impressive showing by the Comanche's, Peterson is as advertised!
