Re: So, High School Football 2020?
It's 10 feet of the woods...so a band director could situate the wind section opposite of the fan seating. Granted there is probably a reason a band it's in the positions they do so they would throw off the sound?
In regards to crowd size - I think it's 50% of capacity. There is supposed to be an empty row of seats between the patrons. So the odd rows have seating and the even rows are supposed to be blocked off. Our stadium is built in a bit of a hole. At the top of the stands there is sidewalk, that is where the "men" stand and watch the game from the top of the hill. People also bring their lawn chairs and sit at the crest of the hill to watch the games.
As you say I am glad I am not the one enforcing the rules!!!

We can probably get by at 50% capacity. Last year there were some cold/rainy night games, we had 5 straight losing seasons, so our attendance I thought could have been better. Our playoff attendance was much better than our home regular season attendance.
If you factor in some older folks and those more at risk staying home I think 50 % will be doable. Also the fact that games will be streamed. It may be hard to get 50% of fans in the stands this year.

Our home bleachers seat 1200, and we usually sell closer to 1500 tickets to home games; the rest stand. Our visitor bleachers seat 800 and are rarely half full. I'm guessing we are going to be REALLY GLAD we can televise our games (stream)!

My neighbor spent all of April and some of May in Mason and he went back with his grand-kids to some ranch up there. Must be pretty nice over there!!PurplePunch wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 10:11 pm Our home bleachers seat 1200, and we usually sell closer to 1500 tickets to home games; the rest stand. I don't get it. This decision by the UIL seems really stupid for me. To me it is either safe to play or it not safe to play. So why the split between large and small schools. The virus is in all towns large and small now. Just don't get it.

Politics, pure and simple. There will be little fallout from 4A and below, but there would have been a bunch if the big schools were treated the same. I'm just glad that, for once, we didn't get lumped in with them!

IN spite of the fact the city and county is fairly lax on enforcing ordinance violations Mason still is "THE GEM OF THE HILL COUNTRY'ganadofan1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 10:16 pmMy neighbor spent all of April and some of May in Mason and he went back with his grand-kids to some ranch up there. Have to think they are trying to salvage the basketball season and keep the rest of the calendar on schedule? Wonder how many multi sport athletes there are in larger classifications? In our division there aren't many one sport athletes, they are competing in everything.

I get it, the larger classifications have thousands of students walking around the same halls. And thousands of fans. The spread at those kind of games and schools have a larger potential to infect a lot more people in a shorter amount of time. The same reason we don’t have large concerts going on.
