Why a better proposition? Guarantees the game will be a region final and not a 3rd round game.Comanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:54 pm I think it’s kinda dumb to be honest. They could have lumped Shiner into a district up north and kept Stockdale south in D15. Could have put Sonora in D14 and kept that Anthony district at only 5. There’s much more travel there. Could’ve slipped Hearne into D12 as well. I personally think Shiner will be fine either way. But I figured keeping Shiner and Refugio apart until playoffs was a better proposition for the UIL. D16 is exactly what I thought it would be. But they butchered D13, 14 and 15. Especially D14!

Re: Division I Alignment
I see your point there. Just tough having to play someone twice. I think we’ve all seen why. Lots of teams win district but lose the 2nd meeting. It happened between Shiner and Refugio in 2015. And how about 2003 when Shiner got a 2nd shot at Falls City? We all know how those turned out. Gives a team 2 looks at you. Herring doesn’t like Shiner getting 2 looks at him anymore then Boedeker. Just one of those things. I do think it will make Shiner better having a tougher overall district in the long run. Also, if you put Shiner in D13 and both win district, then they wouldn’t face each other until round 4 anyways!Windthorstfan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 3:09 pmWhy a better proposition? It's going to be hard filing that 6th game. I haven't talked to any of the coaches, but I bet they are ready to pull their hair out over this alignment.
[ if i'm correct I think 2A-4A only 7 districts with 5 teams, Bandera nearest team to Mason might need week 6 game, other 5 team districts over 240 miles from Mason.

2003 all 4 region finals were district rematches. The only outcome that was different was Shiner-Falls City.Comanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:54 pm I see your point there. Didn’t know that. I was a player for Shiner in 2003. So I never knew that about the other results. As a fan from Shiner and a player. Both times I can remember this playing out for Shiner. The result flipped in the quarterfinals. So maybe my opinion is more biased towards my team. I’ll also say this, this tends to happen more when the result is close. Or you have 2 more evenly matched teams. In those scenarios it is tough to play each other twice.Windthorstfan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 10:05 pm2003 all 4 region finals were district rematches. Re: Division I Alignment
We have had the opposite! In rematches, we have only lost 1 after winning the first game. And that game we literally crapped the bed and gave up 3 kickoff returns for touchdowns as we held Munday to less than 150 yards of offense losing 21-28. Think we have won the other 5 times we had a rematch in the playoffs when we had won. We gave Munday a scare '07 after they beat us 3-33 in district, but they crapped the bed and escaped in the region finals 16-17 in a game we had less than 150 yards of offense. They fumbled a punt return deep in their territory which we returned for a 20 yard TD, the safety came when they punted from their endzone and the punter kicked the ball into his protector. They cruised to the state title winning by 47 and 20 in the next two rounds.Comanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:09 pm

FYI... The Colorado City / Colorado is a mistake. They made it look like we are playing Colorado City from the state of Colorado, but this is all part of them trying to change their name from Colorado City to just Colorado, which makes no sense to me, but I am not in charge. District 4 is only a seven-team district. Thanks to Windy for his hard work...

Shiner has had other rematches after district. They had one this year. Played Schulenburg twice in 4 weeks! But neither of those games were close. That’s what I mean by evenly matched district opponents. I wanna say 2015 also saw a rematch of Shiner and Flatonia in round 3. Shiner won both games against them big that year too.Windthorstfan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 10:15 amComanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:09 pm

In the process of making a mileage chart, Goldthwaite's average road trip is 51. That is the fewest in the district. Tolar averages 85 miles, while Coleman is 72

Grapeland is appealing their district placement into District 11. Trying to get placed in District 12. A 4A and a 5A school are also appealing.

In District 12 they were would have 5 trips under 70 miles with their longest drive being 126 to Saratoga West Hardin. Average distance to district foes 67 miles total travel is 403 miles.
