Re: Baseball 2024
Johnson City brings in a new head coach this season, but also brings back their two best pitchers who ranked #1 and #2 in overall K's thrown in 2A last season. Jacobs(LSU-Eunice commit) throws high 80s and has a great arsenal of pitches while Slawinski (Baylor commit) throws mid 90s and is a top 10 player in Texas per Fivetool (also top 250 player in the nation per Perfect Game). The Eagles also bring back their top four hitters, but have a lot of underclassmen behind them that will need to develop. The key this season for the Eagles is to build pitching depth behind their studs as that was their Achilles heel last season. This team has enough talent to give J.C. their best chance at another state title in a long time, but there will be a few pieces that will need to fall into place for that to become a possibility. Can't wait for the season to get started!

Is Keenan Hailey still attending Shiner? I haven't seen him on any of the rosters. Definitely rooting and praying for him after all he has gone through.

No sir, he is at Rice Consolidated now. He has been there this entire school year. That’s where his nearest family was at. We’re all praying for him. Great kid I’ve been told. Don’t know him personally.

Re: Baseball 2024
J.C. has looked solid in all 4 of their scrimmages (2-1-1) against larger schools, despite playing without all their primary starters due to basketball. If these scrimmages are any indication, pitching should be deeper than last season. The Eagles open the season Monday against their old rival Blanco(#25 in 3A). Excited for the season to officially start!
Re: Baseball 2024
J.C. goes 2-2 on the week. A lot of high points and low points, but considering how many underclassmen are starting(4 Freshmen & 2 Sophomore) growing pains are expected. Once basketball is done and our all state guys come back, this team will is going to be really solid. Highlights of the week include Lorenzen (Freshman) who pitched an 11K one hitter against Christoval and Jagger Slawinski(Freshman) who went 5-13 at the plate with 4 runs scored in four games.
Week 1 Scores:
Mon:
Blanco 7 J.C. 2
Thur:
J.C. 6 Christoval 2
Fri:
Brady 6 J.C. 4
J.C. 10 Hamilton 9
Week 1 Scores:
Mon:

Re: Baseball 2024
Bad look for some of the Collinsville fanbase that has caused issues for the Pirate's to start the season. Collinsville has had issues securing Umpires due to an incident that happened in the playoffs last season. Fortunately it looks like it has been resolved for the most part, but it's a shame that the players are the ones that end up getting punished due to someone else's stupidity. Has anyone seen this happen before, where TASO straight up refuses to send umpires?
