Albany and Hawley friendly rivals

Post by dripdrop »

just saw a clip of Refugio coach complaining about the games at Jerry world, how unfair it was Hawley got to sleep in their own beds and Refugio had to stay in a hotel and other stuff.Albany and Hawley are approx 40 miles apart and were always in the same district until all the big school little school stuff started, they played a non district game earlier this year and usually play or scrimmage every year,Hawley left early to cheer on Albany and spent the night in the same hotel where the kids mixed and mingled,Albany then went to cheer on Hawley the next day.Herring is a great coach but a very sore loser

I never got to play against Hawley in my time at Albany but in the years after it seems that both schools challenge and respect the other to be the best they can be. I hope both schools can continue to have that going for them and I think they gave each other some of the motivation to go on and win their respective state titles this year. As for the Refugio coaches comments I haven't seen the clip yet but I can say I saw mart coach Hoffman interview and while obviously not happy I came away believing he is a classy coach and a good ambassador for his town

having now seen that clip i say that's a shame to see that. i think its worse for some of these 4th place district teams having to travel 4 or 5 hours just to lose to some powerhouse district winner in a game they don't have much chance in. practice is important but at this point in the playoffs its largely going through the motions of what you have done all season and the muscle memory and instincts are already baked in to each players performance.

At Week 16/ 17 of the season, you're concerned about a practice?

LOLz.

Albany is 20-4-1 all time against Hawley. Hawley’s first win was in 1990, Hawley has won the last 3 games.
