this is not a sour grapes post,Hawley were much the better team and fully deserved the win.I would like the opinion from a Hawley perspective on the 1st touchdown, there was a clear whistle both lines stood up the qback unopposed threw the ball down field for a touchdown, despite a long complaint from Albany the touchdown stood, from an Albany point of view a terrible decision

I would like to give you an answer, but I was not at the game. I was watching it on y’all’s YouTube. So I honestly don’t know.

if the feed was still up i should show that it was there but it is not and i don't have NFHS. however for a nondistrict, nonplayoff game im not going to sweat it but it did happen. Hawley was the better team and while we did have great improvement on defense playing at close to true speed defensely. Hawley's defense was on point and was better than Stamford's defense just not as fast. our offence was hamstrung by cramps but that wouldn't have been an issue if we could have ran against Hawley more effectively but that is a testament to Hawley being good at sniffing out the run. glad to have these young players tested by such a good team

Hey Bud... Like my son, I was watching on the Albany broadcast, so I did not see or hear it live... But as an old football official, I would like to talk to your comment... And I do not take what you said a sour grapes. As an official, if you have an inadvertent whistle, you have to own it, you must continue to blow it dead and advise the coaches that it was a screw up and replay the down. But if the whistle came from the stands, you have to play through it. It is unfortunate when this happens in either case as usually one team is not happy either way. I cannot talk to the whistle as I was not there. This is unfortunate as the boys are taught to play until the whistle blows, so like I said, if it was an official, he has to continue to blow it dead and if it was them, then the play was not handled correctly, you have to replay the down. But, as stated before, one team is not happy either way. Anyways, I hope that this explanation helps.

Okay, I have a question, and I only ask this as you brought it up... It was interesting that so many Albany players were having cramping problems and maybe I did not see it as I was not at the game, but it seemed that Hawley was not having any problems along those lines. So, I was wondering how this happened? The temperature was in the high 80's, so I was not sure if that was causing it or hydration or conditioning issues. I remember last year, Deonte Ramon fought cramping issues early on at the first of the year, but he was having to drink Pedialyte before, during, and after the games. The one thing that I saw that made me proud of the Hawley player, was when he was trying to help an Albany player stretch out a leg cramp after a play. It like the announcer stated, just goes to show that these kids have coaches that have taught mutual respect and to me it showed. The other thing that causes these issues, and you see it 1A, 2A, and even some in 3A as you have players that never come off the field, so they sometimes do not get hydrated as well as they need to, so it could have been that as well. Your thoughts?

I cant speak to exact cause but i know it wasn't as prevalent in the Stamford game and it mainly happened in the second half. Hawley i think only had 2 players have cramps from what i remember. i know the coaches even as long ago as I played stressed getting hydrated before and during a game especially early in the season. its possible that they need more conditioning but i only saw a few times where anyone was hunched over for breath. i suspect players just didn't drink enough at half time but like i said i don't know for sure. Hawley showed class helping stretch out our players leg. good luck this week with Merkel
