WHAT HAPPENED???????????

Ok can someone help me out here a little bit?
I can see Mason falling to San Saba in a hard fought game, but to get beat like that makes no sense. Is it a curse for being on TV?
But there was another one I did not see coming...
Falls City... The mighty bucktoothed warm and fuzzy Beavers went over to the doghouse in Flatonia and got pounded. I did not see this one coming at all!
Archer City sure put a scare into those Windthorst Trojans though. Sounds like a either a great game or one where the last person who made a mistake won.

Falls City and mason are not looking great but neither is Ganado. I look for Mason to bounce back some. Sometimes you lack talent and or have injuries.

Not only did Sabinal broke a 22 game losing streak in Week 1, and are still undefeated at 3-0 on the season.
Bartlett broke a 26 game losing streak when the beat Ranger in Week 2.

I had a feeling the Beavers would lose, but I didn’t see it being that bad either

AC isn't bad. DCTF had them on the cusp on top 10 last week at #11. They had 3 trips inside the 2 yard line in the first half and only came away with 7 points. All three possessions though started with a penalty on 1st and goal, 2 false starts, and a holding call. We got a stop on their first possession and then drove 95 yards to take a 7-0 lead.
Next possession they had another false start on first and goal from the foot line!! On fourth and goal, their left tackle shuffled backwards in his stance and the side judge didn't throw his flag and they scored on a jump ball. Our coaches were livid to say the least. Rumor last night, the officiating crew after watching the film Saturday sent an apology for missing the call.
We went up 14-7 and they had a chance to tie the score before halftime, but got called for holding on 1st and goal from the 1 and then threw an interception. First play following the int, we had a player go down and the game was delayed for 15 minutes or so and they carefully loaded him into an ambulance. He was cleared later that night thankfully, but he was a 2-way starter.
We open the second half by marching down the field, but on 1st and goal they make a play and force a fumble which they recover. They then go 95+ yards to tie the score. Think it was our next possession we lose another 2-way starter. On 4th and 12 we get stop at our 17 yard line, but go three and out. Get off a 51 yard punt to flip the field as they didn't have anyone back. Holding call pushes them back to their 19 yard line and facing 4th and 2 at their 37 they elect to punt but the snap rolls back to punter whose knee was on the ground giving us the ball at their 27 yard.
On 3rd and 9 from their 16, their DB reads the bubble screen and picks it off and scores on an 81 yard interception return. However, we get pressure up the middle between the guard and center and kick misses to the left giving AC a 20-14 lead with 4:33 left in the game. Very first play of our possession we bust a loose for a 55 yard run up the gut to but us at their 12 yard line. We score two plays later and kick the extra point to make it 21-20.
They get to our 20 but on 4th and 5 our pressure gets to the QB and his throw comes up short and we take over with 1:55 left. We have a false start penalty and can't do anything with it so we have to punt the ball back to them. They get the ball at at their 46 with 12 seconds left. They complete a pass to about our 30 yard line and instead of going out of bounds the kid cuts back to the middle of the middle and is tackled at our 21 with 2 seconds left and no time outs. Ball is spotted and clock runs out

San Saba has turned their program around, but it never hurts to have quality move-ins.
Five starters out for Mason explains a lot about their season so far. Hopefully they will make it back.

Windthorst fan gave you Windthorst's view of the game. This is my view of the game.
Archer City has the more talented team, but Windthorst is the tougher, better coached, and more disciplined team. Archer City for some reason cannot install a simple goal line offensive set, and insists on running every play from the spread set.
There were bad calls or no calls against both teams, including an obvious pass interference call that should had been called against Windthorst on AC's first possession at the goal line.
There were injuries for both teams- Windthorst losing their two guys in the second half and AC starting the game without 2 starting OL, and losing another two-way OL/DL starter in the second half.
One can only hope the two teams meet up again in the playoffs.

Two returning offensive starter: the 6’4, 210, 4.53 QB/S, and a 185 pond OG/DT who was hurt much of last season. We were up 6-0 and in the red zone against Comfort when the QB joined the starting RB/LB on the injury bench.
The backs go 145-165, the linemen go 200 and below unless the big center is in. Not ideal numbers for our traditional offense, and we’ve scored one TD in 3 games and a scrimmage.
Three returning starters on defense: the QB/S and RB/LB were out, leaving only the OG/DT last week. The other safety the starting right corner, and another LB and DL were also out. When you are inexperienced and shallow, that’s a burden. The replacements played valiantly, but...
All but one starter returns for Wall, and the game day players a emerging. We will see where we are, but I’m confident we have a run in us. Getting Shiner second round, we need to get it figured out PDQ.

Obvious? Tell me more, which down? Don't see anything obvious on Hudl.
1st down was run into the line for no gain.
2nd down QB scrambling to his right, our LB deflects the ball, and the pass falls behind the intended receiver.
3rd down inside WR is running a "skinny" post - if the QB throws the ball when he makes the cut might have an argument for PI, instead LB realizes knocks him off the route then the QB throws the ball high. No interference there as you can bump a WR until the ball is in the air in college/HS.
4th down QB rolling to his left, short side of the field, under duress the QB gets rid of the ball but his pass lands out of bounds
Better hope Windthorst finishes 2nd in their district, otherwise there won't be a rematch as no one in the region is beating Hamlin who would be AC's 3rd round opponent. AC-Windthorst II would happen in the 2nd round if AC wins their district and Windthorst finishes 2nd in our district.
