Something funny that happened to Hawley tonight on the way to Onley, Texas....
One of our coaches got the food orders from the boys and the other coaches and staff for Dairy Queen. He called them and was ordering the food, he wanted so many steak finger baskets and so many DQ Dude sandwiches, which are chicken fried steak sandwiches, if you are not familiar with them. Anyway, the guy was like, we don't have steak finger baskets or DQ Dude sandwiches, we only have chicken fingers and hamburgers. Well, the coach knew this would be a problem, so he told him he would call him back... Well, come to find out he called the Dairy Queen in Olney. Illinois, not the Dairy Queen in Olney, Texas... Funny situation, but had they not had a problem with the order it could have been a really bad situation...
Just thought I would share this... Hope others have stories to share..

Don’t have one for this week. But years ago when I was a kid, I went to watch a Shiner playoff game in Katy with my uncle, his friend and friends dad. The friends dad also happened to be the former principal at Shiner High, retired already at this time. He was driving and got lost in Katy trying to find Tiger stadium! I remember stopping at convenient stores asking for directions and him and his son arguing. We missed kickoff lol!

Another one, this was a Shiner vs Refugio playoff game in San Antonio years back. My pops and I met a buddy and his family to eat before the game at a Chuys in San Antone just down 281 from Alamo Stadium. My pops and I left just before my friend and his family About 30 minutes before kickoff. I immediately saw the traffic on 281 and took some back streets through town and found a way to the stadium and parked. Took us about 15 minutes. We got in, found a place to sit. Saw kickoff. I then realized that it was almost the end of the first quarter and my buddy was nowhere to be found lol. I called him and they had just got out of traffic to the Parking lot… if they would have followed me, got there much sooner lol!

Hey, I have one to tell on my oldest son, yes, 'DirtySims'. My lifelong buddy (May He Rest in Peace), and I as well as my oldest son, when he was in junior high, I think... We are going to the 5A playoff game with Abilene High and Katy, and we were discussing the game and then the stadium. We were trying to remember the name of the stadium and had gone back and forth in question of the name... Then from the back seat came a snide comment... "HEY, OLD GUYS!" Then he pointed to the banners that were almost everywhere now that we were close to the stadium and had not noticed. These banners clearly showed The Alamo, for the Alamo Dome.... He ribbed us about that for a long time...
