A picture is worth a thousand words.
This is the difference between Goldthwaite’s defense this year and the last several years.
Now let’s work on getting that goose egg.
As coach Spradley use to say, “ everybody gets to be a hero on defense.”

Looks good. I say that as long as the opponent is standing and the play hasn't been blown dead then ever defender needs to be heading to the football. Seen plenty of times at all levels of the game someone has the ball carrier in a arm tackle but he breaks free and goes for 6. This should be what most tackles look like.

Goldthwaite wasn’t prepared this week.
When we don’t score with a first and goal inside the five yard line, it’s NOT the kids fault NOR is it any injury issues.
Anyone ever heard of the wishbone? Why get in the shotgun when you only need four yards? SMH.

I watched Shiner fail to score with a 1st and goal from the 5 tonight too. And they tried the classic splitback for the first 2 plays. Stuffed both times…

Most solid teams like Crawford or Cisco will line up under center with at least three in the backfield with a balanced lineup and run it between the tackles. You don’t know if they are going left or right until after they snap the ball.
I watched Goldthwaite score literally hundreds of times like that over the years, even against good teams like Shiner.

Hawley is a very good team Albany held them twice when they had 1st and goal inside the 5 yd line

not sure it was every play,but they had 8 attempts and did not score
