Hamlin AD/HF Evans is out. We have a qualified man in house, overwhelming majority consensus for the hire. Board has a wide open layup, better not miss this one. Or it will start rolling at the very top.

So the board does the hiring or the superintendent brings his candidate to the board for approval? Likewise if a head coach for another sport say basketball needed to be hired, is the board who hires or the standing AD brings his candidate to the board for approval?

1st season 0-10 (after they graduated a ton of kids)
2nd season 5-5 (getting back on track)

After Russel left, the cupboard was bare! Russel knew it as well. The new coach was going to be a fall guy no matter who they hired (just didnt have the athletes to win). Community didnt understand this.

Evans won 30 games his last 4 years at Wheeler. Playoffs all 4 seasons.

Ryan Quillen has been fortunate to spend 18 years coaching at his alma mater.

Quillen’s tenure at Electra will continue next season, but he is surrendering one of his roles.

Quillen recently relinquished his position as the Tigers’ head football coach but will remain the school’s athletic director and head boys basketball coach.

“I”ve been very fortunate to coach in my hometown for 18 years,” Quillen said. “I”ve been the head coach of the boys basketball, softball and football programs. I just think it’s time for someone else to come in as the football coach and get that program turned around.”

Ryan Quillen has stepped down as Electra head football coach.
The Tigers went 11-29 in Quillen’s four seasons at the helm of the football program. His best year was his first, leading the Tigers to a 5-6 record and a playoff appearance. The Tigers were 0-10 last season.

But the high school has been faced with low enrollment numbers that actually qualified it to play six-man football. Administration has resisted the temptation to abandon 11-man football, and Quillen said that stance has not changed.

“We have 17 seniors in this year’s class, but those numbers jump to between 30 and 40 in all the classes after that,” Quillen said. “If everything stays as expected, we will be back to 2A numbers next February.”

The Tigers have been more successful under Quillen on the basketball court. The Tigers have been to the playoffs 11 times under Quillen, including three trips to the regional tournament

I don’t think your aware of the situation, he’s not gone because of football. Nobody even expected 5-5 this past season, the “community” was very happy with that. There is a lot more going on.

well regardless of the situation with the coach I'm hopeful for Hamlin pied piper resurgence to make it back to post season play. wasn't too long ago Hamlin was in the hunt for a state title.
