Re: NEXT LEVEL
I think the shape of college recruiting is changing and the changes will hurt high schools kids looking to play college ball. Covid and NCAA has hurt kids with the extra year of eligibility given to college players for the 2020 season. The NCAA did not adjust roster limits so you can still only have 85 kids on scholarships. The other impact on college recruiting is the Free Agency of college players, AKA the Transfer Portal.

Re: NEXT LEVEL
Don’t forget the impact of NIL as well. Already saw a player forgo his senior year to jump to college a year early. This will have further impacts on high school ball as well.Windthorstfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:47 am I think the shape of college recruiting is changing and the changes will hurt high schools kids looking to play college ball. Nothing against our level, but don't think that will impact our level.Comanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:22 amDon’t forget the impact of NIL as well. Re: NEXT LEVEL
It won’t affect this level as much as the next no doubt. Players still have to have the credits to graduate early. Which the south lake Carroll QB did have. And hey, they still made a deep run without him.Windthorstfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 2:58 pmNothing against our level, but don't think that will impact our level.Comanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:22 amDon’t forget the impact of NIL as well. Re: NEXT LEVEL
I was referring to 2A versus the upper classifications! Everything is so speeded up these days...From kids enrolling in college early to try to get a jump on getting on the field earlier. That's probably killed a lot of All-Star games. We complain about kids opting out Bowl Games but most All-Star games now a days probably don't have many DI talent. Texas/Oklahoma Oil Bowl in WF was killed by the greed of the TX/Oklahoma Shriners fighting over who receives the bulk of the pie, so game is no longer Texas v Oklahoma but is now an East/West game of the Wichita Falls area but even that team split isn't always a true east/west split. With the Oil Bowl now being a more local game it has hurt the Greenbelt Bowl in Childress as the use to pull kids out of our area to fill their teams. Like most things it was cancelled in 2020 and then wasn't renewed this past year. Will be interesting if they play the game this summer.

Re: NEXT LEVEL
I can tell you from talking to high school and college coaches, scouting services, camp/combine sponsors, and position coaches not affiliated with schools, that COVID was a disaster for late-blooming high school players. Especially those from small schools, because the recruiters couldn’t watch or meet with them in person and didn’t trust 2A/3A film unless they were at ATT.
A number of kids who would have gotten D1 offers ended up being invited to walk on instead.
No camps or combines and no recruiting visits for the better part of a year screwed a lot of small school juniors and seniors, and late bloomers from schools of all sizes.

Re: NEXT LEVEL
Doug Brooks and Tyler Bishop have committed to Texas A&M Kingsville. They’ll be Javalinas next year! Going to join Tyler Palmer in football. Trevor Haynes is also there for track! Javelinas got lots of Comanches in their ranks!
