Well, like I said after watching the Shiner / Refugio game... This Shiner team does not look to have any weakness and look to be the real deal. Their size and speed is going to be very hard to deal with...
I just hope that we can make it competitive... We are so beat up and have a ton of key injuries, not to mention that half our boys have the flu. The school has them quarantined away from the other kids to try to limit exposure. Our superintendent went and bought them all pedialyte to try to keep them hydrated. These kids have a lot of heart and will come Wednesday night and give it all they can... We are so very happy to just be in this game... Much respect to Shiner... Good luck to both schools and I pray for no more injuries... Go Bearcats !!!

I saw that info from Dave Campbells too. They left out that Shiner was 6-man from 1920-1923. And from 1924-1950, Shiner had discontinued the football program. Been playing 11-man since 1951.

No one gets to this game that aren’t a good team. I know Hawley is gonna come out and play their hearts out! Can never take any team for granted! Hoping for an injury free game! And hope all the Hawley players that are injured have speedy recoveries! See y’all Wednesday, and Go Comanches!

On this information posted by Dave Campbell's site, the only thing that I saw on the Hawley information that is incorrect is the record for Mitch Ables, he is 81 and 21, which is only one game off. I figure this information is from MaxPreps, so I will have to do some research and find out where the discrepancy is and submit a correction...
By the way, UIL does recognize Hawley as starting football in 1968, but they played an outlaw schedule in 1967. I have spoken to some of these first members of that 1967 team this week. I have enjoyed these conversations a lot. It turns out that Hawley bought the team new helmets and uniforms, but most of the other equipment was used and donated by Abilene High.
