Re: Shiner vs Hawley
I don't think they were 6-man in the 20s. TexasHighSchoolHistory currently doesn't include 6 man records on their website. After the 1923 the website shows: DISCONTINUED; SIX-MAN LEAGUE. That's where I came up with 6-man.Comanchealumni06 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 7:23 pm I saw that info from Dave Campbells too. They left out that Shiner was 6-man from 1920-1923. And from 1924-1950, Shiner had discontinued the football program. Been playing 11-man since 1951.

Ah ok, I gotcha. Well either way. I don’t believe they played 6-man in between either. I’m really not sureWindthorstfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:59 amI don't think they were 6-man in the 20s. Re: Shiner vs Hawley
Silly me, 6-man football didn’t even exist in Texas until the late 1930s. Was invented in 1934 in Kansas lol

Re: Shiner vs Hawley
Normally, I would not talk about the specifics of one of our boys' Injuries... But it was televised this evening... Update on Lon Davis, our player that was hurt in the Marlin / Hawley game... He is at home and has been resting, he also plans to be at the game tomorrow night at Jerry World... But what is very shocking is that he had to have 80 percent of his spleen removed due to the damage it received. Not sure what this means for his health going forward in life, but I pray that he will continue to be okay and that this does not set him back in life...
