OK Guys and Gals I have a question..

What is better if your town has numbers that are under the 2A level?

Answer poll and post your argument for either selection.

Me I think it also depends on if you have the players. I have seen years that we had a lot more girls and at a 2A level if we lost more than a couple of guys to injury we were in trouble. I have also seen years we had classes made up of nearly all guys and we were fine.

But overall you have to decide if you would do good at the 2A level. I would rather drop to 1A and do well instead of stay 2A and lose big every week hoping no one gets hurt.

I’m with you there, that’s why I brought up Pettus, Runge, Bruni and Benavides on another thread. With the exception of a few good years for Bruni, none of these programs have been dominant in recent memory. Why not give 6 man a try?

I think it depends on the size of the school and or town.
Some teams really won’t benefit dropping to six man if the players aren’t there. On the other hand when we dropped from 2A back to 1A (before it was 6-man) it made a big difference for us because 2A had totally outgrown our school.

It depends on the school . If your numbers are going to go back-up 2 years later, then stay 11-man. If you can compete stay 11-man. If you can't compete with no hope in site, and will be below 104 numbers for a while. . Go 6-Man. Going 6-Man isn't guaranteed success. That transition is tough.

Also you need to figure out mileage to other schools that you can play against. 3 hour bus rides versus an hour or less bus rides does make a difference.

Their enrollment was 106 in 2012. They had one of the best recruiting departments in 1A (now 2A)!!!! They had a kid transfer in for football and left to go play baseball in the spring at another school (4A)!!! Granted the kid was just a role player and they would have won state without him, but that's the way they rolled back in those days!!!
