I know they're 3a but Shiner, Ganado, Refugio and some of us 2a teams do play them or have.
They lost their head football coach and his wife in a car crash last night. They leave behind a senior son who plays football.

to the EB community. Devastating.

Texted with my college friend whose son is in the program. They are saddened beyond belief. Really emotional for a lot of that community.
Yeah keep that kid and that community close to your heart over the next several weeks.

Ganado's superintendent I think at one point was at East Bernard. I know his wife was a teacher there before he came here a few years ago. We are working on honoring the community in some way as East Bernard plays here September 11th. I announce Ganado games and I feel like it's something we should do. Of course our superintendent is the final say. He's already confirmed that we will.

2001 on way to state semi final game vs Garrison, an elementary school teacher's son died in a car accident for Ganado.
2003 our head coach's daughter died in a car accident and also a senior player's mom passed away of an aneurysm during the season. I remember being in the 8th grade and the current Tidehaven hs principal was my 8th U.S. history coach. We went outside to nature that whole class period and paid our respects silently. Nobody said a word all class.
It's on YouTube La Marque footbll head coach died not sure how in the 90s maybe right before the season.

I was just informed that the 2001 accident that killed a teacher's son was on the very same curve on highway 60. They were taking the road to our semi final game against Garrison. I believe it was in College Station.
