Shiner 2026

Comanche… was having a discussion with a Shiner parent at the 7th/8th grade basketball games tonight and they seem to think Jarvis goes back to WR next year. I was confused. I thought he was the future the next two years.
By the way, I got there for the end of the 7th game. Holy crap, that 7th grade group looks like some 9th grade bodies amongst the bigger kids. They looked bigger than the 8th grade, minus Domingo.

Not surprised Shiner has good genes. How's that 8th grade Weimar basketball team doing?

That they do!
I think they are 10-1. Lost to a JH that feeds a big school by 1 on a last second shot.
That Weimar group has two kids that can dunk here and there and defend the rim, and two lock down defenders who have played tourney ball frequently. Players 6-10 on the bench are decent basketball players. Three from that group should be in the starting 5 next year on Varsity. They go 6’2, and 5’10 (x2) and neither of them are close to being done growing. Another 2-3 should log minutes on Varsity next year.
Won three tourneys beating La Grange, Smithville, Giddings Columbus, Hallettsville and East Bernard twice. Weimar was down 2 starters to the flu and still handled Hallettsville by 30 in the semis and EB in the title last weekend.
Shockingly, the closest district game was against Bloomington and nothing was falling that night. That group is intense and is pissed if a team scores more than 20 on them. Beat Shiner 48-11 last night and that Shiner team is a good group of kids. Shiner did have one kid who I feel like will be a stud for 4 years. Name was Luke.
Bo Bures from Ganado will be a good to great basketball player. Bloomington has one. Louise, to my surprise, has one of the best in district. Very smooth and long! Burg and Flat have zero right now but that can change over the next couple of years.

Bloomington has a sophomore #3 who is legit. The best player in our district in my opinion. My brother coaches in Bloomington.

Did you hear about their move in from DeSoto? He’s similar to your move in from Edna so he had to play JV.
Went in between the legs windmill dunk on Weimar’s JV. I think he beat them by himself. Supposedly is a hell of a football player too.
Good thing about Football, you actually need others to win, and win consistently and Bloom lacks that.

He's a senior I think. Yes he is legit and waiting on UIL to approve him. The district coaches have approved so not sure. They've been waiting for over a month.

That 7th grade for shiner I keep being told will be special! There’s some solid 8th graders too! But we’re talking about basketball lol! Shiner and basketball just don’t sync! It’s always been skipped over in favor of football and baseball. Girls basketball tends to do well most years. But for the boys… not at all lol.
And as far as Jarvis is concerned, that’s news to me. I’m not sure who steps in at QB if he goes to WR. But I do have to agree! I think he would be a much better WR if Shiner has the QB that can sling it! That was the original intention before the original starter got hurt in the Ganado scrimmage. #3 and #4 split out on either side with any combination of the remaining RBs in that backfield would be a nightmare for most any defense in 2A lol.

Yeah, your last paragraph is exactly how I view it from watching Shiner.

Shiner will finish 2nd or 3rd in basketball. Schulenburg beat Bloomington by 20. It'll be a fight for 2,3,4 with Shiner, Bloomington, Flatonia, and Weimar. Boys basketball.

No need to worry about Weimar in Basketball this year.
