I've always found Shiner, Flatonia, and Weimar to be classier than Schulenburg in my experiences.

I won’t get into classy debates. I’ve got plenty of friends from my local gym in Burg. With that said, a lot of their people think that their 3 state championships over 30 years ago means they are still a power.

I’ve lived here 2.5 years and I roll my eyes when they talk about the Burg standard. They are the coastal plains version of Marshall or John Tyler from East Texas.

On a side note, I was a little shocked at who doesn’t play bball for Ganado. The current Weimar team is young and rough, and handled Ganado pretty easily once past the first half.

I recognized Austen Pena and #2 but the rest, I didn’t recognize any of their names from football. Figured more of Ganado’s athletes would play basketball.

I will say one time I stopped at the liquor store and the guy in Schulenburg working was very friendly and we talked football.

We rarely put out a good basketball team that can go past the 1st round. Our best basketball player in hs #6 in football is a freshman. I don't have the scoop on why he didn't play basketball. He started both ways in football as a freshman. Ganado kids play football, baseball, and softball.

Our volleyball and boys/girls basketball teams leave a lot to be desired and have for decades. We did have good boys basketball teams in the 90s.

Bwahahaha! I worked in Schulenburg for about 4 1/2 years in the early 2010s. And you are spot on with this assessment lol!

Schulenburg has had good teams 2005 and some other ones since but no championship caliber team.

Bloomington at Weimar is a big one Friday. My brother said Bloomington beat Louise 99 to 30 something tonight. That's not a huge accomplishment but it is the largest defeat for Louise in district play thus far.

Louise couldn’t beat a lot of JV teams. Since I moved here in 2023, I’ve been astonished at how bad Louise continues to be in Basketball, Baseball and Track.

Obviously we don’t see them in person in Football, but they really look bad results wise in Football.

How does a town a stones throw away from Ganado and El Campo suck so bad? Just a bad, extended history?

They won state in 2010 in volleyball or maybe 2009. When we moved to Ganado in 20001 they were good in basketball and competitive in football. They had a fullback go to UH Desmond Pulliam around 2011. Since Lucio left Pouise about 8 or so years ago they have been bad.

Louise has good kids but they lack talent and there's a big emphasis on agriculture. The expectations and culture of winning just aren't there.

Early 2000s to 2015 was the golden age of Louise sports. Now they don't win in anything but they always play hard.
