Hearne vs Port A or Thorny in the regional final in Bball
Re: Shiner 2026
Hearne vs Port A it is.
My guess is that game is in Hallettsville or Columbus

Re: Shiner 2026
I saw Panhandle beat Mason girls for the title in a low scoring game.
On a side note, Ganado and in particular 1 school board memeber better shape up! Support Ervin or else. That man deserves community support and whatever he asks for within reason should get.

Yeah I talked to Mason’s AD and he said they couldn’t buy a bucket in the first and we’re down 19-2. Cut it to 4 but could never get back even.ganadofan1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2026 3:51 pm I saw Panhandle beat Mason girls for the title in a low scoring game.

What in the wide world of idiocy? Why would Ganado not support Ervin? Did he piss off someone important?

No but he is young and fiery. He says what he believes and plays the best regardless of name...
He goes to church every Saturday, he's Catholic like I am. He doesn't drink. It's hard to believe but even after a title in softball and football last year and 2nd place in band some people still aren't happy. Those are the types of people to avoid. Constant problems and can never make them happy.
Ganado's longest tenured hc was Althaus 1995-2000. 6 years. He's the one who started Ganado's modern day success. Prior to that our success was very limited and short lived. Ganado has struggled with keeping head coaches and that's something that the town should reconcile with. My family moved here in 2001 from Tomball. My buddy wrote that Ganado football book and I have a good understanding of our past before my family arrived.
Ervin has been here since 2018 and it's his 5th year as head coach.

Re: Shiner 2026
This happens all the time in most any small town. You’ll have some folks with “certain last names” that believe they run everything and they’re elite. So they believe their kids should be starting and playing no matter what. And then at the same time think the coach should listen to them and win all at the same time. When they get in certain spots of power is when it can change everything! It creates a toxic atmosphere! It’s small town politics at its worst. And coaches absolutely hate it! I know coaches who retired before they originally intended to because of such politics. Easy way to lose a coach! It’s a big reason why I changed my major and didn’t finish school myself! I’m so glad I didn’t take on that sort of a career.ganadofan1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 10:57 am No but he is young and fiery. Yea. My brother and a number of my friends are coaches. Everywhere has some of the same problems. It's just the way it is unfortunately. Folks claim to have kids best interest in heart... we have several name brands 5-7 with quite a bit of money but I'd say only 2 fall into the category of not having best interest. The other ones are on the fence for me in terms of their motives. When you have a name and money you get to sway things your way or else...

Happens in Weimar too… annoyed by a couple of families here. It’s all about about Weimar until baby boy doesn’t get his way.ganadofan1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 2:16 pm Yea.
