My wife, the boys and I are looking to go to Hawaii sometime in the near future. We were wondering about all the fire damage and the other thing that has me worried is that long flight. When I was a kid, we were in Dundee Scotland for five years and we came home every Christmas through New Years and that was a very long flight. That was in the late 1960's and there were times we would fly from London to Greenland or Iceland and then fly to New York and then to Dallas and then finally into Abilene. Back then it was Texas International that would fly into Abilene.
That’s an awesome story! And I’m not sure about the fire damage. If I remember right it really only affected a couple of the islands. Oahu wasn’t affected if memory serves. It really depends which island y’all are going to.

And if you don’t want the continuous long flight. There are many options for layovers in either Phoenix or LA I’m sure

It's amazing how my heath and body aches have changed in the last 10 to 12 years. I worked as a consultant in the computer manufacturing industry software industry for 11 years, during that time I flew over 3 million miles throughout the US and Canada. I could not do that now, not even close. I guess that is why my wife and family have gone on so many cruise vacations. I am at 15 or 16 and my wife is a 21 or 22. It's just something that we really like doing.

Dang! Lots of flights and lots of cruises! We want to go on an Alaskan cruise sometime soon. Still looking into it. Cruises aren’t really our thing lol. We prefer the freedom of making our own schedules where we go. On a cruise your usually on a schedule for excursions and what not. I hope y’all have an amazing trip wherever yall decide to go!

When we left Germany in 1989 we flew fom Frankfurt to Newfoundland for a stopover/refueling and then to Philadelphia. Guess the highlight was getting ice cream in Newfoundland. Newfoundland is where they sent all the international flights on 9/11. From Philly to DFW was another 3+ hour flight and then flew from DFW to WF an hour flight. The plane we flew from DFW to WF was so small you could look out the front windshield. Oddly enough the only time I slept on the entire trip was from DFW to WF!
