Dallas Prime Prep Academy

Postby Windthorstfan » Sun Aug 19, 2012 8:22 pm

Anybody following what's going on with them?

The 11-3A District Executive Committee has ruled them ineligble for varsity play as they ruled all their players transferred for athletic reasons. Should be interesting to see how this plays out as Deion Sanders will surely appeal to UIL. The twitter world expects the same ruling by the DEC for basketball as well.

Who didn't see this comming ?

80% of players were not from Dallas ISD. Yet, Deion said this was to help Dallas school system.

Well that would explain the DEC ruling as DCTF stated there was an open transfer period for DISD students.

Do Charter Schools get state funding?

Sounds like Prep told the DEC they couldn't play Varsity football since 80% of the 30 players were from outside the District. The DEC then ruled that the rest of the varsity sports would be ineligible for play in 11-3A - more or less barring them!!

#txhsfb scattershooting about Prime Prep and I'm just thinkin out loud here..but if Prime Prep's mission is to help kids in the inner city get an education why are most of the athletes from the suburbs? Heck, I've heard Grace Prep gives kids a stellar education...but kids transfer for the education at a school not yet opened? Aren't these kids from the suburbs taking up slots that could be filled by kids who actually live in the inner city (aka Dallas ISD)?
