Mason loses game 1 to Mumford 3-1. Mason didn't pitch their ace while Mumford did so things could get interesting. Game two will begin shortly.

Yeah the wheels fell off for them, they had like 10 walks and a couple critical errors. They only lose 2 starters though, so they will be back next season. Not taking anything away from Mumford though, they are for real! Hopefully the rest of D28 has a better showing today!

Harper beats Dallardsville Big Sandy 5-4 in a sloppy error filled game. They advance to play Mumford next week.

J.C. run rules Iola 10-0 in five innings. Jacobs allows 2 hits through 5 innings with 5 Ks on 57 pitches. Game two is tomorrow at 11 AM barring bad weather.

Burton defeats Thorndale 5-4 in an epic 16 inning game to complete the sweep. Burton faces the winner of the J.C./Iola series.

J.C. beats Iola 2-0 in a rainy game to complete the sweep. Slawinksi pitched a one hit shutout with 14 Ks and no BB. The Eagles bats kind of struggled, but gotta give credit to the Iola pitcher for pitching a good game. Next week J.C. faces Burton which should be a great matchup!

Johnson City vs. Burton

Game 1- Friday, May 19th, Liberty Hill, 6:00 PM
Game 2- Saturday, May 20th, Liberty Hill, 12:00 PM
Game 3- If necessary follows game 2

Analysis:

This should be a very close matchup that could go either way. Burton is a tough and battle tested team that has been competitive with and even beat top teams this season(beat Bosqueville). The Panthers are experienced and Senior heavy with some very good pitching, yet have somehow flown under the radar this season. Burton is also going into this game riding momentum from a 16 inning win over Thorndale! If J.C. wants to advance they will need to hit the ball better than they have the first two rounds, not leave runners stranded, and minimize errors. Burton's ace is no joke and will definitely limit offensive opportunities, so taking advantage will be key. That being said, I think as long as Jacobs and Slawinski continue to pitch(and hit) the way they have all season, our chances going into this one are good although it won't be easy.

Prediction:

J.C. advances

Harper vs. Mumford

Game 1- Thursday, May 18th, Dripping Springs, 4:30 PM
Game 2- Follows game 1
Game 3- Friday, May 19th, Dripping Springs, 6:00 PM

Analysis:

This is going to be a tough matchup for Harper as Mumford is firing on all cylinders going into this game. The Longhorns have shown they can face adversity in the playoffs and still win, but the Mustangs are on another level compared to their first two playoff opponents. That being said Harper is no slouch otherwise they wouldn't be here. They have solid pitching and probably the best bats out of D28. I think they will play Mumford tougher than Mason did, but when it comes down to it, Mumford's experience and talent wins over Harper's youth and inexperience. Either way I will be rooting for the fellow D28 Longhorns to pull off the upset!

Prediction:

Mumford advances
