The Site Supervisor for Lubbock told me they had a new record for new cases yesterday. 140 new cases. I though Abilene was bad with 30...

The total number of cases are one thing. To me the important thing is hospitalizations and mortality rate. The mortality rate is much lower than we know because with all of the people that get it, many are asymptotic and never know they have it. How can they count for the numbers when they never know they have it?

Another thing, who has ever gotten the flu and not been sick? I have never heard of anyone getting the flu and not being sick pretty bad. The same cannot be said for Covid, many people never get sick or mildly get sick. There may be people that get the flu and never show symptoms but I haven't heard of that before.

With all of that said, I don't want the corona or any of my family to get it. I do think in some ways it is being over hyped. Anything that can make Donald Trump look bad.

I hope we play football btw but the way our country is handling corona uptick, no way we play football or even go back to school this year.

In Lancaster there was a 17 year old girl who played sports and was healthy. She contracted the virus , and passed away from it. Now the school and athletics were stopped a the time. So there was no controversy. Can you imagine the outcry if she contracted the virus while at school or playing softball . No school is going to take that risk.

I think chances of football being played depends on the 2nd Wave if it hits, and how bad. I don't see a vaccine anytime soon.

My wife has a friend that is a Colonel in the Army Reserves that was called up and deployed to San Antonio (lives in Montana) to assist with planning etc back when this first started. Was told it would be a 30 day deployment, keeps getting pushed back when she will be allowed to go back home to Montana. Was June and now September, anyway her kids are her mother's house in Windthorst, so she came up for the weekend and we visited. Government planning for this to last at least 2 more years solely based on the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. They don't think they will have a vaccine for another year.

FEMA is in charge asked for DOD assistance as they are not designed to respond to an entire country only an affected area when a natural disaster occurs.

Interesting. Southlake Carroll is under fire by the Dallas Morning News because they have not suspended their workouts despite athletes testing positive.

Hallettsville had a student's parent test positive so they had the kids sign waivers and have seen participation drop. Bay City has dropped a lot as well. Their numbers are pretty bad in Matagorda County. Victoria ISD has stopped workouts. Rumor is Cuero has stopped workouts. I have a friend in the Aldine school district and they have stopped workouts at one of their high schools.

Tough decision on the coaches.

If a player gets the virus from practice and passes. It would likely be a career ender for some coaching and staff. It is impossible to trace the virus back to a certain point of transmission for legal reasons. That is why there is no workers comp. or lawsuits.

Given the very low mortality rate, my first inclination is ‘much ado about little’. The hospitalization rate and numbers, however, are troubling, and even more troubling are discoveries related to lasting effects on the immune and pulmonary systems in young, healthy subjects who seemingly recovered, or didn’t have bad symptoms to begin with.
This ‘novel virus’ continues to mystify.
Pfizer said on the news last night that in a Small double-blind study of 48 volunteers (24 placebo, 24 vaccine), all 24 developed a COVID fighting Immune system response, and the kind of antibodies prevalent in patients that beat the disease. Unfortunately, they believe the next two rounds of required testing could take the rest of the year.
