Albany will have to do a lot better than they did in the Anson scrimmage to beat a tough Colorado City team

Hopeful Muenster does not pick up a loss in non-district but preseason rankings solidify tough schedule.
Large senior class with many playing in back up roles as juniors.
Not as polished as last year’s team starting the season but they are bigger & eager to play.

S1 – Jacksboro Won 3td’s – 0
S2 – Whitesboro Won 10-7 in a ½ game (3A-1 ranked #9)
W1 - CACHE, OK 4A #17 Ranking
W2 - @ LINDSAY 2A-1 New coach should be interesting
W3 - @ POTTSBORO 3A-1 Good team
W4 - BYE
W5 - VALLEY VIEW 2A-1 #9 Ranking
W6 - @ CHILDRESS 3A-2 #4 Ranking

17th out of 32 schools...that being said Cache's ADM is 511

Due to a lack of schools as a whole here is how they do their alignments
Class 6A Division I – Largest 16 football playing schools
Class 6A Division II – Next largest 16 football playing schools
Class 5A – Next largest 32 football playing schools
Class 4A – Next largest 32 football playing schools
Classes 3A, 2A & A – Each of these classes will consist of approximately one-third of the total number of
the remaining 11-man football playing schools
Classes B & C – The smallest 80 Class A football playing schools that petition to play eight-man football.
The largest 48 eight-man schools will make up Class B; the remaining 32 eight-man schools will make up
Class C.

56 schools in A which range from 208 to 92

There are 34 Class B school that range from 159 to 100, the other 10 schools have ADM of 99.26 to 89.30

Greezy, Tenaha just reloads!!! I know touch football isn't the same as tackle football, but looked like y'all had some good athletes on the 7 v 7 that qualified for the state tournament

Lots of new guys in important positions. Graduated 15. Plus a new coaching staff, 4 or 5 new guys. I think we will be ok eventually but might take some time to come together.

Wall lost a lot to graduation. So I gave a slight edge to Mason. Great game for Mason to schedule. This will prepare them for bigger games later on.

Refugio losing to Tidehaven possibilities? Tide did beat East Bernard last year. I know they lost alot but any thoughts on an upset?

Grapeland should be ahead of Lovelady. I think Grapeland got the shaft with how many they brought back. They should be ranked 3rd. We added a lot of new faces to the team and I cant wait to see what they bring to the table.

Have no idea what to expect from the Muenster game tonight.

I think we are on par with last season and Cache (OK) is a .500 team, but they also have an enrollment of 512 kids 9-12.

I have no idea what to expect between Mason and Wall tonight, but if we do lose, there will be absolutely no shame in that. Assuming it is a competitive game, win or lose, this is a great game for our program and rankings mean jack squat.

Groveton replaced last year's head coach with their dc. Gonna be a long season.

No doubt it was. Awesome game. Extremely proud of the young Punchers. Got up two scores, Wall came back with some big plays and big time speed, Punchers answered, Wall answered, the a goal line stand and an 80 game winning drive. All of this with their best player only playing one way and barely at 75%.

Hornets win BIG

20-15 final. Good win. Traded leads in the fourth and then we intercepted in end zone with 44 seconds left to ice it.

Cache had some big boys but you had to expect that. Muenster's defense- particularly the front seven- was very impressive to me. I think they're about as physical of a bunch as we've had. Linebackers played down hill and our two ends- Walterscheid and Pagel- are a matchup problem in passing situations.

Offensively, my concern is the traditional run game. I think we may have underestimated the impact of losing the Stevens kid. What he did well was finding wiggle room against tough defenses, turning zero yard gains into 3 yard gains, which is what you need to win a title. We have some good backs now but they're downhill, run-you-over types, not improvisers. That will definitely work against most of our regular season opponents but will it work against Wellington and Mart? I didn't see us run the ball very well in between the tackles last night. (But then again, it's a 4A defense.) The McGrew kid is our best running threat, which is fine, but you can't afford to lose him.

I also think we may have had a greater plethora of downhill threats at receiver last season. It's only week one, but I'd be cautious about becoming too reliant on Luttmer in the passing game. You couldn't shut him down last season because we also had another burner, Trubenbach, playing across from him. It'll be interesting to see who emerges as a complimentary receiver to him.

This is just me nit-picking. I think Muenster's starting defense is on par with what they were last year and the offense could be if they get an inside run game going. I do believe we are thinner than last year at key positions. There are several players you cannot afford to lose to injury.

Kraut Bowl week.

At the risk of eating crow, I think Lindsay is a year or two away from making this competitive. They'll play harder and Smiley will likely do a much better job at slowing down Muenster's offense to a degree, or at least containing it. But I just don't see how Lindsay's offensive line will hold up against Muenster's defense. I can see them hitting a few busted plays on those mid-screens they love or the Foster kid breaking off a long scramble or two, but don't see them moving the ball down the field methodically with any consistency.

I do think they are moving in the right direction, though. The 27-6 win over Era was more thorough than the score would indicate. Era ran it every down out of the flexbone and took every snap with less than 5 seconds on the play clock. Lindsay only had a few offensive possessions.

Foster also has a good arm and will be a solid quarterback for the Knights.

But for now: Muenster 35-7
