Mason v Refugio state final?

Postby Mahir » Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:37 pm

Actually this could happen. If Mason goes region 1 and Refugio is region 4 then possible. Exit Stratford and Mart and possibility goes up. Sure obstacles by both but still a possibility.

Mason has a lot of questions to answer before it belongs in that conversation, and Refugio without Kelly is a different challenge, though still likely the favorite in 4. But if Mason goes into Region 1 or 2, it is certainly possible, at least in theory.

Is it true that week 1 Mason and Refugio will be playing?

Hope you’re right. Fans are promoting some quality matchups, even if we have to travel.

Refugio vs mart first week maybe. Mason schedule is full. Mart on has 2 games so far. Riesel and bosqueville. Smh.

That is big time right there. Home and home or neutral site?

OC at Refugio also stated that they have Goliad and Tidehaven scheduled as well. That is way strong.

I've heard the following are games that Refugio is considering/negotiating for as well:
Yoakum, East Bernard, Hallettsville and Navarro. None of these have been confirmed that I know of, but if the previous three are locked in (Mart, Goliad, Tidehaven) then any two of the other possibilities completes one heck of non-district schedule.

With realignment coming out later this week, we should start seeing confirmed info being released pretty soon.

Personally with a potential new QB that would be a little too much to chew off. Not sure what Tidehaven has coming back but Mart will be the favorite to win 2a Division 2 and Goliad will be top 5 in 3a Division 1. I would think a schedule that setup much like this years would be better. 3 really good teams and 2 decent teams. Can try to stay healthier as well as gain some confidence.

Refugio's problem is there aren't teams lining up to play them, so they probably are forced to take what they can get!!!

Back in the mid 2000s we had the same problems. Two years we played a 4A JV team which weren't competitive either, then the next alignment we played Canadian on a Saturday. First year when were loaded - we made the 4 hour drive and defeated them 34-14, the next year they came to our place and whipped us 49-21 (think we called 3 timeouts in the final minute to score that final TD!!!)

Week 1 - Tidehaven vs Refugio
Week 5v Tidehaven vs Shiner

Flatonia tentative non-district schedule Week 1 Snook, Week 2 Hallettsville Sacred Heart, Week 3 Thrall, Week 4 Schulenburg, Week 5 Yorktown

Per Matt Stepp

Tentative of course.

Things will change as teams expecting a six team district get a 7 or 8 team districts.

May need to lock up a week 5 and 6. Depends on whether we have a 5 or 6 team district

And geez, we just keep playing Hallettsville. I like it though. Battle for Lavaca County will continue.

No Yoakum, please. Scrimmages between Yoakum and Refugio have just always turned into boxing matches. I don’t know what the deal is, but they just don’t seem to like each other.
It's a pretty good day when you're on your way and you like where you're going. And you've got what you want and you want what you've got and you're wise enough to know it.

That is a tough game to play because the Brahamas will win the majority of the time.

On a side note, are Shiner and Ganado scrimmaging like they used to?
