Thursday and Friday night weather

Postby ganado » Thu Dec 07, 2017 7:08 am

Awhile back I was hoping for some cold weather because a lot of the football season has had warmer weather. Now I am thinking that hot chocolate and much more will be need to brave the 30-40 degree weather.

I do wonder how the weather will affect passing teams like Burton and Refugio? It doesn't hurt passing teams that are playing in the Alamodome, NRG, etc indoors. These smaller schools have to deal with the weather all the way up until Jerry's World.

I think the wind affects games more than 40 degree, against Santo Albany run into the wind,Santo hit a 54 yard field goal with the wind

Not to mention how productive have the practices been for teams this week. I don't think it has been an issue for Refugio. The indoor practice facility has provided an added bonus for them too.

The kid kicked one the week before against Electra that local media said would have been good from 60 yards!!!

I attended the first round of the NCAA Div II Football playoffs. When a team kicked into the wind in cause all kinds of havoc. The football would get caught up in the wind and barely go 10-15 yards!!! Passes were knocked down, granted the wind typically dies down in the evening. I think Iowa Park's field run east-west while Memorial Stadium is North-South.

Yes sir, 43 degrees at kickoff and it’ll be dropping each hour.
