Not sure but Lesak would be a good choice in my opinion. He got the most out of the team that he had.

I don't know. I would think they might accept applications and see if they find someone that blows them away. Also, I don't know if Lesak wants the HC position. I would think he does though.

I can tell you this, the incoming 11th graders on through the 2nd graders are looking good. Whoever gets hired will need to endure one more mediocre season then it will be winning, winning, and more winning for around 10+ years in Ganado.

People over here around shiner hear that the town wants an old baseball coach that all the kids loved to come back and be the AD/Head Football Coach. But they think the uppers want Lesak and something about back yard boosters run the show there!

He was last year and this but when Wright resigned Lesak took over the offense. The offense looked better and then the defense looked worse. That shows you that whatever side of the ball Lesak is coaching, he makes an impact.

I have heard 227-233. Somewhere in that range. Ganado is expecting to move back into the district with Schulenburg and that district.

I doubt people all over town want the coach that is in the Southeast part of Houston back. Internal things happened while he was here. The backyard boosters don't run things like they used to in the 90's and early 2000's. I do get a feeling that this is an important hire with the talent level on the rise from the lower elementary level through the current sophomore class. A lot of the byb members have kids who are good so I expect things to get more intense from the byb perspective. Right now things are pretty cool because we haven't had much talent and aren't winning much. That will change a little next year and we should take off in the 2019 season.

Wallis Brazos moved up and so did Boling. Don't forget Bloomington and Danbury stayed in division 2

It could be Ganado, East Bernard, Schulenburg, Tidehaven, VV, Bloomington, and Ganado. I would prefer a 6 team district rather than this 8 team district.

We lost the last two years but haven't had good teams. This year 7-40.

Last year 23-28.

My computer thinks the 3a site has a virus so I don't post on there. I might have to figure something out and start posting again on their website but it's been a good year since I have. I will stay on on this website for sure. With a lot of the local teams being in our district I believe Ganado will turn to the Weimar, Shiner, Flatonia, Yorktown, Louise's of the area for non-district games. I don't see Ganado playing any 3a teams except for Palacios or Vanderbelt.

It sure it hard to beat this site boys. You have coverage all the way from South Texas to West Texas and all the way in between. I enjoy getting info from different regions. Not sure I know of any other 3a sites that are as good as this one. Only one that's close would be 4a and I think theirs is the downlow ...

Now Ganado should be starting to get close on their search for the new chief in town if they are wanting to bring him in before next semester ....

You would think the new guy would want to see the athletes before Christmas break what is your thoughts ???

Also Weimar should be looking as well, in my opinion they stay in house. You're an outsider unless you were born in Weimar ... Any thoughts there ????

It would be a good to bring in the new chief before Christmas but definitely before mid January so the kids can get started on the off-season program when January rolls around.

Not to bring race into this, but it's a fact that certain places just aren't ready to have a black Coach. I know very little about Ganado, which is why I'm asking, and not assuming, but do you think they would be open to the idea?

To my knowledge we haven't had a Hispanic or black football for Ganado. Would they, I believe so if he was a qualified candiate who could capitalize on the talent that is coming though the pipeline over the next 10 + years. Just like any coach, color doesn't matter, results do.

That I don't know but around 50 sounds right. Especially if they know that Ganado has good football around the corner starting in 2019. I have a friend who applied. Doesn't think he will get it but you won't get it if you don't apply.

Most 2a jobs get like 150 applicants, unless it is just a BAD job. I would bet even Olney is getting 100+ applications.

know for a fact a very qualified coach from the Houston area applied. He has been OC/Associate Head Coach or Co-OC at bigger schools with great history of success. He brings a ton of energy, and has an unbelievable ability to flat get kids to give their all for him. He is just looking for his first shot to run his own program. If this job is truly open, I cant imagine a more qualified applicant.

1-2 grades won the super bowl in pee wee. 3-4 lost the super bowl game. 5-6 won the super bowl. A lot of those kids' dads played in the 90's and early 2000's when Ganado was very successful. I don't remember our JH scores but they won a fair amount of games. The JV wasn't very good but any decent sophomore was playing on varsity so it was mostly all freshmen. From our 10th grade down to the lower elementary we look good.

Just when Ganado was about to compete now moving up and numbers will keep them struggling unless they can get more kids out. Smallest in their division is bad.

That's not a problem. Ganado was the smallest in 2a until 2008 when they dropped and they did fine for the most part. The Ganado talent won't have an issue winning starting in 2019.

Okay so the question is or seems like to me ... Kids are good enough to win coming up for the next decade and for some reason they do not win, then this is the coaches fault or will be the coaches fault .... So they better hire a dang good coach !!!!

And if these Indians don't beat East Bernard year in and year out this hire isn't a success ????

To me Ganado getting into the play offs alone is a huge accomplishment within the next couple years .... Not sure they will be good enough to win district titles or make deep state championship runs within the next 4 years ...

But then again I've been wrong before and really do wish them a lot of luck. Just want this new coach to have a fighting chance and not have expectations to be so high from the community when at times Ganado will be competing against schools with 100 more kids than them ....

Saw this on Twitter regarding basketball teams but could probably be conveyed to football as well

Bad Teams - No Leaders
Good Teams - Coach leads
Great Teams - Players lead

I don't think Ganado makes the playoffs next year barring move ins. We never seem to get those. I do expect us to make the playoffs as a 3-4 seed in 2019. After 2019 Ganado can start to expect playing for district championships.
