This is a shame, but I understand.... Mark Young is a good kid and was at Hawley as an assistant when he was starting out.... Not sure what the answer is with this program, but I know this was not due to Mark's lack of effort.... Best of luck to him in his reassignment...

What did Quanah run on offense and defense?

Anyone know what they have coming up, i.e. how did the Jr High and JV do?

How are the facilities?

Spread, 3-4. Facilities are rougher than most around the area, not bad on a state wide scale.

Not as talented as from 2010-2015, but not "Un-talented"

I think they will hire inside.

Job doesn't close until Feb 2. Day after realignment... They return 8 Jr and 4 sophomore from their beginning Varsity roster

We beat their JV 49-13 in week 3

One of the few in this area still playing on grass.

All he did was win. Since 2008 his teams Falls City and Iraan reached at least the second round of the playoffs. He won district championships in 8 of his last 9 seasons. 2012 his first season at Iraan, they finished 3rd.

Iraan kids are tough, competitive, fundamentally sound, and used to being worked. And they have a lot coming back. Good job, if you like that kind of country/location.

Alto ISD has named Rickey Joe Meeks as AD/HFC at a special noon board meeting today! Coach Meeks (Tatum OC) was one of eight selected for an interview from almost 130 applicants. Two were called back for a second interview and Coach Meeks was the unanimous choice. Coach Meeks is the son of Texas football coach Dickey Meeks who won state championships at Chapel Hill and Henderson. We are EXCITED!!!

Couldn't agree more! Coach Kirchhoff is a good man, who expects the best from his players. Went to high school with him back in the day.

Olney is looking to hire Shamrock HC Jody Guy pending board approval. Board is currently meeting per Times Record News.

Times Record News wrote:Guy has spent the past nine seasons leading the Fighting Irish, a 2A football program located 90 miles east of Amarillo near the Oklahoma border. Shamrock made the postseason on five of those occasions, going 25-70 during his tenure.

Before leading Shamrock’s program, Guy also was the head coach at Petersburg (2004) and Roby (2005-08). His career coaching record is 34-101.

If Board approves Shamrock would then be open

Maxfield was a huge name a few years ago when he was at Shallowater. I was a bit surprised when I heard that he took the job in Bangs, but then again, Brownwood did get terrible end of the deal with realignment and anything is better for Bangs. I bet he's going to be taking a big pay cut but he'll fair off pretty well.

I heard they pretty much opened the checkbooks at Brownwood to get him too. Bangs is a struggling small 3a, will be a tough gig.

The school board approved of it on Monday and as of this morning, the Brownwood AD job is posted on the THSCA website. I read an article in which Maxfield eluded to the fact that not everybody is going to like the way you coach, but there was no pressure from school board for him to resign.
