Overton Mustangs

Postby Ronster1954 » Fri Sep 15, 2017 9:30 am

Mustangs have struggled out of the gate...8/8 starters were projected to return, but two All-district OL (Jr & SR) for some reasons decided not to play...a 3rd All-district player, probably the most talented Jr, family moved...a 4th All-district returner on both sides of the ball (fastest on the team) dismissed for repeated disciplinary infractions...have left the Mustangs with having to fill those voids with unseasoned players...many who have not played since JH who did come out this year...so, hopefully in due time these rookies can get up to speed and make a significant contribution...this week will more than likely see another mark in the lost column, but you never know...that's why they play the game

I had heard about the running back being dismissed from the team. I was saddened by that. He was pretty electric. Guess yall are in for a tough season. Stay strong. Itll come together if the young guys can grow up quickly. Having MT E and wortham on the schedule helps.

Yeah it got a bit ugly, especially two terrible cheap shots on a single player during the game...I'm speaking shots trying to possibly inflict injury...one did hurt, a stomp on the privates while OL player was on the ground...and going at the knees on the OL by a LB after the OL blocked the LB and he couldn't get away, LB backed up and cut him at the knees...bad part was was flags on either play...not agaisnt good hard hitting, but those were uncalled for in any game.

Overton handled their ground game rather well...but could not stop the pass...when you're having to cover a couple of 6-0 180 lb WR's with 5-5 130 and 5-6 130 DB's, it can get ugly, lol

SA has a lot of talent...probably go deep in playoffs, if they can handle their district.

Overton was open...play Grapeland this week...Grapeland probably takes it...unless Overton can cut out the turnovers...had 5 vs SA

Well considering they gave up 42 points to 1-4 maud, maybe yall have a chance. I mean thats more points than maud scored in their first 3 games, so, theirs that.

No doubt, Tenaha is the real deal. Great team and well coached. No need to have to demean other teams like "Greezy" to hype those boys up. I know several families there and they are a class act. Look forward to seeing old friends..

Yeah Overton had a couple of chances inside the 10...failed to convert on a 4&6 at the 9...and in first half got to 1st and goal at the 6, but due to clock not working whole game coaches had difficulty managing a drive timely...but a good game.

Let's see, this is your 22nd post on this forum and you're calling people out for the content of their post on this site. Jus Sayin!! I don't see anything wrong with Greezy's post. I see a lot worse comments on all the forums and people don't get their drawers in a wad over them.

By the way Smoaky's popularity is going down the tube.

The red neck thing was worth it. Very funny. My haters keep me warm and winter is coming.
