Munday did not have a JV, so the Hawley JV was quiet last night...

Not sure that our coaches will be renewing the schedules with Munday the next go around because of this...

I know they struggled to fill their schedule last time around. I think we were trying to drop them for those same reasons but at the JH level, plus they were always beating us!!! Now that their numbers are down maybe teams will start playing them again. Per the TRN they only have 25 kids out for football.

From TRN Blog on Varsity Roster size
Munday: 25 – No junior varsity for the Moguls, but this number isn’t getting a big bump by freshmen because there’s only four. In fact, there’s only 10 guys in the two lower two classes.

Theirs afew others that could but were one of the few that has HC that takes on extra burden of scheduling 2 separate opponents each week, which isn't easy Jv white team (70% fresh.) all but 1 team they play or 3-A schools and only 1 of them is less than 100mi.n travel. The 2 JV's have only I game scheduled at the same location so extra travels and coaching staff split 3 ways each Thurs. probably deters other programs from having extra JV team.

Absolutely as for the extra travel and coaching staff splits... But it also splits your fan base as well and for families that have kids in Jr High and kids on one or both of these teams, it makes it very hard...

I know Hawley has struggled with this and our Athletic department has worked to try to keep the Jr high games at the same venue on Thursday nights with our JV... It has not always worked out, but at least they try to make it work out....

To make it more impressive he gets a full schedule for the 7th and 8th grade teams. If you saw the schedules you would applaud coach Burns. We have games all over the area, including Abilene Wylie, Cross Plains, Wall, Jim Ned - heck last year the 8th played San Angelo Glenn's first team. It ain't always pretty, and sometimes there are four games in four places, but the kids are playing.
