D1 District 15 2022

Post by Comanchealumni06 »

This year will be interesting. Shiner and Refugio must once again battle for district. Add Ganado to the mix and we’ve got some good games on our hands. Kenedy has made a splash in the playoffs the last few years as well. Skidmore-Tynan comes down from 3AD2 and Three Rivers and Bloomington join in the fun as well. I think the district will stack up like this.

1. Shiner
2. Refugio
3. Ganado
4. Three Rivers
5. Kenedy
6. Skidmore-Tynan
7. Bloomington

I honestly don’t know much about Skidmore-Tynan. Them making this drop could be a big help for them. I think 4-6 may be somewhat even and could make an interesting battle for that 4th spot. And obviously it could very easily end up being Refugio as the district champs.

Week 1 predictions

Woodsboro @ Bloomington - Poor Bloomington… I don’t really know what else to say. They haven’t had much success on the gridiron in many years! And I don’t see them winning this one either. Eagles by 21

#1 Shiner @ Hallettsville- Shiner will get a tough test to start this season off. Hallettsville is young, but talented. Shiner has some holes to fill as well. But have a decent senior group coming through. Add another year to the Battle of Lavaca County! Comanches by 14

Ganado @ Van Vleck- Van Vleck usually has some athletes. This will be a good test for Ganado. Nado by 7

#3 Refugio @ Hitchcock - This will be a show between 2 athletic teams! I could see some points going up on the board in this one. Refugio prevails though. By 10

#8 Falls City @ Three Rivers - This one could be better then many think. The Beavers lost a big senior class to graduation, 17 total I believe. So they will looks very different. TR I’m not sure about though. Also add the rivalry factor here. I think the Beavers take it by 7.

Skidmore-Tynan @ Taft - I really don’t know much about the Bobcats. Not a bunch about Taft either! I’ll just take a guess and say Bobcats by 21

Ben Bolt @ Kenedy - The Badgers just haven’t beeen good lately. But the Lions have! Kenedy will have their way in this one. Lions get the W by 24

I think your predicted order is correct. To my eyes, Refugio is a year away from being really really good. If some of the young ones they have grow up fast, it could happen earlier. Be that as it may, not sure if they will have enough to contain and corral Brooks & the rest of the crew this year. From an outside perspective, I do think Shiner will take a step back this year when compared to the last two, but I don’t know if it will be a big enough step to close the huge gap from last year. Both lost a lot, and that’s back-to-back great senior classes to graduate for the Comanches to go along with 32 wins and two straight titles. No doubt they’ll be tough and hard-nosed and I won’t be surprised if they’re in Arlington again, but if there was ever a year for Region III to stop the Region IV dominance now would be the time. Best of luck guys.

I agree with you. I know Refugio is gonna be really really good going into next season and a few more after that. Shiner will be salty this year. But the overall talent across the state in this division will be much more even.

Shiner and Refugio might have came back down to earth but still feel district and region will come down to these 2. Region 3 might finally be your year to get to state. Timpson your new number 1!!

Yeah, Shiner looked flat out bad tonight. Especially on offense. Defense actually held their own. Just tons of penalties. Our offense looked lost. They replaced #6 with #3 at QB. Definitely didn’t seem like a good decision tonight… Lots of dropped passes and mishandling the ball too. And holding penalties… Just killers… They turned it over on downs 4 times deep in Hallettsville territory and missed a FG right before the half as well… Very sloppy! And still had multiple opportunities to win the game…

Week 2 predictions:

Vanderbilt Industrial Cobras @ #3 Shiner Comanches - Shiner looked extremely rough last week! But they have an amazing coaching staff, and that staff was robbed of some insight in the second scrimmage that was cut short due to lightning. Expect some major adjustments in Beer land. Comanches by 10.

Bloomington Bobcats @ Louise Hornets (2AD2) - Last week was a pleasant surprise as Boolington came out with a W over Woodsboro! Congrats to them! I think that carries over into this week and translates to another win here. Give me them Bobcats by 7!

Palacios Sharks (3AD1) @ Ganado Indians - Not a bad showing by Nado last week. Flat out impressive. I think they may just give Shiner and Refugio some fight this season. They won’t have a problem here. Nado by 28

Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats @ Ben Bolt Badgers (2AD2 - D16) - Ben Bolt didn’t get blown out like I thought they might last week. But Skidmore was just awful against Taft…. Honestly this one may be a great game. Give me Ben Bolt by 7

Brackettville Tigers (2AD2) @ Kenedy Lions - this could be a decent game here too. Brackettville lost to a 3AD1 school. Though not a very good one… While Kenedy got a decent win. I’ll take the Lions by 3

Three Rivers Bulldogs @ Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (3AD2) - Three Rivers are coming off a domination of Falls City. Theyve gotta
feel pretty high on the hog right now. The Mustangs are 1-0 as well but over a TAPPS school. Give me them Bulldogs by 21!

#8 Refugio @ CC London (3AD1) - Refugio is coming off a blowout loss. And 2 blowout losses in a row including last year. I look for them to come out angry after that. CC London has been a playoff presence in region 4 in this division. Though against who? I think the Bobcats bounce back. Refugio by 14

Week 2 results:

Shiner 47 Industrial 0 - Boy was I ever correct about adjustments being made in Beer land! And absolutely dominate performance by the Comanches. They scored TDs on 7 out of their 9 total possessions! Comanches are back and ready to compete again!

Louise 44 Bloomington 8 - I guess I jumped the gun on them Bobcats… That come from behind victory last week didn’t carry anything over I guess. Looks like we’re gonna see the same old Bloomington this season perhaps.

Ganado 49 Palacios 7 - I knew this wouldn’t be a tough one for the Indians. Palacios just isn’t a power program.

Skidmore-Tynan 48 Ben-Bolt 36 - We’ll it was in fact a good game. I just got the winner wrong. No signs of defense in this one. But a W for the Bobcats nonetheless. Good for them.

Brackettville 42 Kenedy 20 - I was well off on this one! The Lions just don’t seem very impressive. And may be in for a long year in D15…

Three Rivers 31 Nixon-Smiley 20 - A little closer then I thought. But a Bulldogs victory nonetheless. I like Three Rivers chances of a playoff appearance in this district this year. They seem solid this season.

Refugio 39 London 6 - Good bounce back win by the Bobcats here. They put on a much better show it sounds this week. And looked much more balanced! Just like Shiner, they don’t stay down very long! And I just realized we have 3 teams with Bobcats mascots in this district. Dang!

Week 3 predictions and overview:

Bloomington @ Pettus - The Bobcats came back down to earth last week in a blowout loss to Louise. I don’t see them taking this one either. War Eagles with a 21 point victory.

Three Rivers @ Taft - This one could be a pretty good game. Three Rivers has shown some spunk this season. I’ll take the Bulldogs by 10

Kenedy @ Karnes City - Karnes county rivalry here! Usually a close and hard fought game! And I don’t see it being any different this season. I’ll take the Badgers by 7 at home.

3AD2 #6 Poth @ #4 Shiner - This one could be a classic. Shiner has shown major improvement from the first week. Poth is 2-0. I’m not sold that Poth is the 3AD2 power they’re played out to be. And I think Shiner will show that. Comanches by 21

#7 Refugio @ 3AD1 #8 Edna - Edna is a very good team. And a full division up. Refugio is still kinda new to their offense, but have improved. I think the Cowboys will be too much this round. But Refugio will give them a fight! Edna by 14

East Bernard @ Ganado - Nado has looked solid in the first 2 weeks. Picking up some wins over larger opponents. This larger opponent will be tougher then the last 2 though. And they’re hungry for their first win! This may be a close game, but I’m gonna take the Brahmas by 14.

Aransas Pass @ Skidmore-Tynan - The bobcats haven’t seemed up to the challenge against larger schools. But this one, is really up in the air to me! Neither have looked very impressive. Give me Skidmore by 7

Refugio gonna have to run for their lives...Edna has many 300 pounders. If the passing game isnt working it could be a long nite. Defensively im glad i dont have to try and figure out how to stop them. I guess plan is to limit possessions and just get first downs... idk if that will work either. Starting 10 sophmores and freshman will be tough.
