Week 4

Refugio @ Edna- Edna sure looks to be competitive with Jerry Long taking over in Cowboy territory. I will go with a 35-28 score just how they beat Goliad.

Shiner @ Falls City- An epic game right here. Shiner prevails by an xp. 28-27.

Danbury @ Ganado- This is going to be an odd year, Ganado losing to Danbury? 21-14 Danbury.

Kenedy- Bye week

Stockdale @ Yorktown - The Wildcats fall... 35-28. Almost an even game.

Schulenburg @ Weimar- Such an even match-up here. Rivalry and all. I will go with our district foe Weimar. 27-14.

I'll take:
Refugio by 13
Shiner by 7
Danbury by 14
Kenedy doesn't lose this week
Yorktown by 3
Schulenburg by 7

4 good games within the district this week. Shiner/FC has a lot of history. Sburg/Weimar is interesting.

Just to let the Shiner fans know, tonight at the game Paragon Sports Construction will be selling pulled pork plates for $7. All proceeds will be sent to Port Aransas ISD to aid in their Harvey recovery. http://paragon-sports.com/falls-city-is ... g-cook-out

So listening on radio to game refugio is down 14 to 13 at half. Pick 6 then next play in edna territory fumble. Then drove full field only to be stopped twice at 1. So my take is refugio defense not quite as good and offense not quite as good. Edna able to keep drives going. No matter outcome of this game this just MIGHT spell Mason as region champ.

Mason is for real 49 to 7 at half over Iraan. Hmmmm shiner and refugio better tighten their team up to compete with these Punchers.

Prayers to Refugio after a player was life-flighted to San Antonio because of a neck injury in the 1st quarter.

Are there any updates on Casey's condition? He and his family are in our prayers from Puncher land.

Yes i too hope he is ok. Seems like this is more a prayer site than football talk sometimes tho. God will heal you doesnt make sence if he is control of this then this fine young man wouldnt have been hurt in the first place if the theory of god controls all is in place. Stuff just happens. I hope this fine young man will be ok.

My prayer is that god gave this surgeon the intelligence to do a great job on the surgery. In life horrible things happen. Prayers cant keep horrible things from happening but prayer makes us feel better.

Ganado @ Louise- Louise by 14. Ganado and Kenedy will battle it out for 6th place.

Hitchcock @ Shiner-Shiner by 7 in a good ballgame. Home-field advantage is important. Shiner is a good team.

Weimar @ Lexington- The Eagles will soar to a 49-21 win. They are really good.

Kenedy @ Three Rivers- Kenedy falls to 0-4.

Refugio @ Navarro- Navarro by 14.

Yorktown @ Woodsboro- Yorktown get a win for the 2nd straight week.

Ganado by 1. Shiner by 13. Lexington by 62. Three rivers by 28. Refugio by 2. Yorktown by 31. Refugio game is a mystery. Both teams not quite as good. Navarro and refugio giving up alot more points than last year. Game will come down to does refugio have enough depth?. Can refugio defend the pass? And turnovers. I think they do all 3.

And how is the injury to Casey Henderson going to affect them, they are pretty torn up about it now.

I can't imagine - My college alma mater, Midwestern State University, had a player die from his injuries suffered on the playing field last week. They had a bye week this weekend. I'm sure it will be emotional getting back on the field next week for the first time without Robert Grays.

I posted on the fnf app that Shiner would win by 7 because of home-field. Otherwise they were even opponents. =)) just kidding.

Ganado won 34-6 against Louise who isn't very good. I was surprised that we won by 28 considering all of the turmoil around town and the team we have this year. Give credit to Interim coach Lesak and the kids who played hard tonight.

Refugio is getting better each week. Playing Geronimo Navarro a close game can only help them going forward. I think they will be a pretty tough out once the playoffs start.

Glad to see Ganado get a W!
Shiner improving each week (not a surprise.)
Weimar, I thought, would be in better shape at this point. And they still may hit their stride when it counts most.
Yorktown also improving.

Refugio and Kenedy are only teams playing this Friday.
The district gauntlet begins next week!

Kenedy @ Bartlett- I am going with Bartlett because Drew Bridges needs a win and he's an alum of Ganado in his first year as a HC.

Refugio @ Santa Gertrudis Academy- Refugio tops 50 points in this win.

District play begins this week:
I expect Refugio and Shiner to both win big.
The Weimar/Yorktown game will be an interesting match-up. I'm going to pick the Wildcats!:)

Refugio @ Ganado- Ganado hasn't beaten Refugio since the 2005 playoffs and it won't start Friday. Bobcats 63-7.

Kenedy @ Shiner- Shiner rolls by 42.

Yorktown @ Weimar- This will be the only competitive game in the district and likely 3rd and 4th place. I will take Weimar by 13.

Not much happening in district play this week.

Big win for Yorktown over Weimar 32-14. Not saying Weimar can't make some noise this season, but I'll be first to admit I thought they could contend for the top spot or two before the season started. Based on what they had returning I saw them being a dangerous team. Maybe a Weimar fan can provide us with an update.

After one week of district play:
Refugio, Shiner and Yorktown each 1-0
Weimar, Ganado, Kenedy each 0-1

This week:
Refugio vs. Yorktown = I'm picking Refugio to move to 2-0
Weimar vs. Shiner = I'll take the Comanches to move to 2-0
Kenedy vs. Ganado = I'll take the Indians

Weimar @ Ganado- Weimar by 14. If we can win the turnover batttle by 2+ I think we will have a chance.

Yorktown @ Shiner- Shiner by 21. They are getting very good.

Kenedy @ Refugio- Refugio could top Mart's 90-0 score but they seem to be more classy this year.

How's Ganado looking without Coach Wright ? Boys still playing hard ? Town supporting the next man in charge ? Is there just nothing coming up in Ganado ? I remember Ganado used to be a powerhouse back in the day ...

I'll pick Weimar to beat Ganado, Shiner over Yorktown and the Champs to beat Kenedy.

The way I see it the winner of Weimar/Ganado will get 4th in district and the loser doesn't qualify.

Shiner/Yorktown will determine Yorktown's fate at 2nd or 3rd. But, in all likelihood, Shiner wins and Yorktown gets the 3 seed.

Week 11 match-up between Refugio/Shiner determines the district championship and runner-up.

The kids are working hard. The problem is we are low on numbers and talent in Ganado right now and that doesn't bode well for winning. Coach Lesak is a 2005 Ganado grad who was good at football so I think the players know he isn't going anywhere. The youth football through 10th grade are pretty good. I would expect to see Ganado win again soon. Right now with 90 kids in the band among other things it doesn't appear that Ganado is concerned with getting back to winning. I don't see any sense of urgency.

Ganado @ Shiner- Comanches will win the battle of the tribes. 49-7.

Refugio @ Weimar- Weimar is big and fast but not good enough for Refugio. 49-14.

Kenedy @ Yorktown- Wildcats roll 48-6.

I'm never really close on predicting the scores, but I agree with your picks for the winners. I'm still puzzled as to why Weimar hasn't really panned out much this season. I also haven't seen them play this year. Assuming they enter the bracket as the fourth seed, perhaps they could give the district 16 winner a test in the opening round.
