Pretty sure it's today. Both team's Gamechanger accounts show today.

Yes sir! Trojanettes had a 4-0 lead in the 5th and had to fight off a Lady Pirate come-back bid. Good game.

Noticed Milano has 2 district losses......so what's up there because they had a dominate pitcher last year and controlled that district

Shiner was supposed to play 4 games last week but for some reason they show a “dnp” against Falls City. Didn’t play. Anyways with last week and one game this week they picked up 4 more wins and have District well in hand so far.

Over Louise 17-1
Over Ganado 15-0
Over 6A San Marcos 11-9
Over Flatonia 20-1

17-7-2

Latexo 13-1
Kennard 19-0
Lovelady 17-0
Centerville 19-4

I think the young ones have finally found there groove and the team is clicking. Only bad thing is all these games are only 3 inning games and Grapeland scored most all the runs in the very first inning. I know the scores are pretty big blow outs but our district has a few good pitchers that throw in the low 60 and will be going on to college.  Grapeland just playing some good softball right now. I heard Slocum beat Woden during spring break.

Trojanettes knock off Petrolia 4-0 as Laynie Brown only allows a lead-off double in the 5th. Abby Brown goes 3-3 driving in 3 runs as she belts 2 HRs and a double.

Windthorst Trojannettes are undefeated in district and barring an upset against Vernon Northside or Seymour, the Trojannettes will be district champions. Great job for first year coach Alyson Deatherage.

Doesn't matter what happens against VN or Seymour - Windthorst has tie breaker over Petrolia.

Grapeland

Neches 10-0 W

Latexo  10-0 W

3A Leon     9-6 W

Slocum 9-4 W District Champs..

Kennard 10-0 W

The Leon game was good for us first time to play past 3 to 5 innings..Also very bad umpiring for both teams. So there was all kinds of obstacles to over come in that game.

Grapeland plays Lovelady and

3A #20 Frankston Saturday at 6.

Evadale Monday at 5.

Grapeland 2-0 win over Evadale.. Cadie Currie throws a no hitter.

Woden 10-5 over Slocum.

So who is everyone's pick to take each region? All the softball threads have been dead all year..

Here we go:
Region 1- Windthorst
Region 2- Crawford
Region 3- Woden
Region 4- Thorndale

Windthorst will breeze thru their region; the others will be tough to win especially 2 and 4

Evadale pitcher is really good. But no one behind her and I mean no one.. She's probably the best pitcher in 2A.

Region 1 Windthorst
Region 2 Bosqueville
Region 3 Grapeland If they play like they can and the youth don't catch up to them..Then they take this region easily.
Region 4 Shiner or Normangee.

Thorndale has played the weakest schedule in 2a. I don't believe they have faced any one with a winning record.

Agreed! Albany has made some noise this year and Forsan is usually good, but I feel the Region I winner comes from our district (Windthorst, Petrolia or Archer City).

Grapeland 15-0 over Alto.
Grapeland got the monkey off there back by beating Alto after last year' big time upset. The three Freshman came out swinging and made sure it would not be close.. All four freshman look really good for there first playoff game.

No real big upsets in first round.....In Region 1 AC losing was a surprise but Hawley has some tradition in softball....In Region 4, #1 seed Riviera losing was kind of surprising but #4 seed Woodsboro isn't too bad. Some good match ups this round but the Qtr Final round will have some great games

It's out in local media so I'll put in on the board, but we lost our starting pitcher to an appendectomy at the start of the week. Had some girls step up in a big way to get us through to the next round. Our #2 had been out with a sprained ankle and hadn't pitched since March. The young lady that pitched the end of game 2 and pitched game 3 hadn't pitched since she was 9-10 years old, she is a sophomore.

Evadale wins 3-2 shocker over Weimar; well not a too shocking because Evadale pitcher is very good
The Thorndale/Shiner match up will determine Region 4

The state tourney could have a different look this year...stay tuned!

Windthorst took down Miles 13-3 in game one using a backup sophomore pitcher. Rumor is our ace would be available if there was a game three but the Trojanettes are hoping to end this in two games.

Didn't realize this but TGCA #6 West Texas was beat by 4 seed New Deal 2-13 and 6-16. That just goes to show those rankings aren't worth a hill of beans.... Still think Region I comes/down to Albany/Windthorst and Petrolia. In the latest poll no one from Region I was ranked (only ranking 10 teams)

My guess it Region I Regional Semis will be:

Ralls vs Windthorst/Albany
Forsan vs Petrolia/Hawley

I'll go with a Region I Final of Windthorst vs Petrolia and pick Windthorst to go to state.

I may sound like a broken record but my opinion is once a team enters the regionals it should be a best 2 out of 3; no one game playoff. One game victories can be a fluke or an off-game at the wrong time. Good teams should have the depth to go three games if necessary.

State tournament is a one game shot?!!!!

Come Graduation time - UIL rule states you can't play day of Graduation. I know it doesn't affect us since we graduate on Sunday but it's possible come graduation time there are not enough days to get in a series.

IMO we are better served only playing one - only once have we lost game 1 and come back to win the series. I have seen us however win Game 1 and then lose the next 2.

As far as I can tell no Game 1 loser has come back to win a 3 game series in baseball or softball this season.

Windthorst closed out Miles 13-0 in game two. It was less than two weeks since an emergency appendectomy, but Windthorst’s Ace Laynie Brown didn't show any signs of rust on the mound, pitching the 4-hit shutout on her return. This earned them a meeting with Albany in the next round.

Game 1: Thursday 6 pm in Graham
Game 2: Friday 5 pm in Graham
Game 3: 30 minutes after game 2

I disagree with the state format as well! It should be best 2 out of 3 there as well. UIL can amend graduation rules if they wish to, especially if it brings in more $$$ (that's why we have an expanded football playoffs now). As you stated, our history has been positive on 1-game playoffs, but it might catch up to you eventually, which is why the best 2 out of 3 is preferable.
