With so many rainouts in North and West Texas, I truly didn't expect to see a whole lot of movement. Not surprised to see Petrolia make the list but I am surprised that Archer City is still unmentioned.

we will keep making noise quietly.

Considering we handled Haskell at Haskell 7-0 in timed game. Pretty sure we will be okay. Hawley will take care of Haskell, wouldn't be surprised if it's a run rule.

AC vs Windthorst this Friday.

Polls are subject so it will all be settled shortly.

Lol, yeah Aces that is why polls are so much fun to poke at and I keep mentioning Archer City will be there soon. Regardless of the outcome of the Windthorst vs AC, Petrolia vs Windthorst and AC vs Petrolia games coming up; I still believe those three will represent district 8-2A in this year's playoffs.

Agreed. At our last tournament, we had some folks Haskell tell us their stud 3B moved away, their good 2B quit the game altogether, and their ace lefty pitcher graduated. They believe Haskell will struggle to make the playoffs this year.

DO NOT TAKE SEYMOUR LIGHTLY...We had to win it in the 7th. Granted we had 4 errors and failed to put the game away when we had a chance, we were also wo Wuthrich. But they were scrappy we were ahead 3-0 and 8-3 going into the 7th. But we kept letting them hang around. They hit the ball decent and the red head is not a bad pitcher.

Yes, we know her well. Jessica Swindell (redhead) is a freshman and their fastest pitcher but you can get in her head. Seymour typically puts the bat on the ball so defense is important.

Yes you can and we eventually did w/a 5 run inning, they pulled her but their 2nd pitcher isn't nearly as fast but is a lefty.

Was a good win for us since we had to go wo Wuthrich. Hilbers got to go the entire game and did well.

Polls are all about reporting to TGCA. If coaches don't report then their teams won't be ranked regardless of who they beat. And we all know that at the end of the day polls don't win games just put targets on your backs - so maybe coaches don't want to put the bulleyes on their teams back.

Agreed. But my personal preference is to keep the bullseye and make the best come play you. The girls know right up front that everyone they play is bringing their "A" game. I prefer the pressure now and believe it will help later come playoff time.

never seen a poll win a title yet. And I don't agree, the bullseye comes from being good consistently not rankings. If you are continually successful everyone knows your good and they don't need a poll to know it. Aka volleyball..Ac wasn't ranked most of if not all year in the top ten and finished top 4 losing in semis to Lindsay

Aces, I didn't say the bullseye come from the poll, just that I like to keep the pressure on to keep performing. Of course, sometimes it's not just the girls, the coaches can affect a game as well. ;)

You going to make it to Windy tonight?

Really want to, but seriously busy. Should be a good one. I think if ya'll play to your potential ya'll win be a few runs, if not will be anyones game. P-Town is good, but aren't what they were, course they could turn around and slap us both in the face..LOL

Maybe I'm wrong but outside of District 28 with Flatonia, Weimar, and Shiner there isn't another district stacked like the top 4 teams in District 8 with Archer City, Petrolia, Seymour, and Windthorst.

I agree with you. District 8 and 28 are stacked. Trenton and Dodd City in District 13 are decent but that is about it for stacked districts. I expected Shiner, Hawley, Beckville and Windthorst to be among the strongest teams this season but I would not rule out Flatonia, Weimar and Archer City from making strong post season runs.

Also out of District 28 is Ganado.... a very solid ball club with a good pitcher. Harper is tough as well in their district along with Johnson City and Center Point has had a good group the past 4 or 5 yrs. That East Texas district with Dodd City and I think Harleton or Beckville will be a good one as well with the Windy/AC/Pet/Sey district.

I think Weimar and Shiner are a level above the rest of the teams in D28. Flatonia is not bad but Weimar pounded their best pitcher for 17 runs on 19 hits. Ganado does have a good pitcher but not enough to go along with her to finish any better than 3rd at best, probably 4th. Weimar and Shiner both have the capability of winning the region. My prediction is Shiner, Weimar or Thrall to win region 4.....

Haskell beats Hawley 9-7..I'm laying odds region champ comes from 8 and it's a district rematch just like last year in reg semis and reg final

I thought this had to be a misprint but I've confirmed it on two article now. WOW! Did not see this coming with Haskell losing last years starting pitcher, 2B and 3B. Great job by the Maidens.

Aces - looking more likely district 8 could win the region but still a lot of softball games to be played.
