We went 2-4 this weekend to start our season defeating Valley View 9-1 and Mineral Wells 6-5. Lost to Vernon 11-21, Paradise 7-9 (gave up 9 runs in the final 2 innings), Iowa Park 1-13, and Bridgeport 1-3.

I noticed Refugio lost a district game to Three Rivers 1-0 despite Kelly throwing a no-hitter and striking out 15.

Yep - errors, walks and HBP. We beat Gunter 4-0 and didn't have a hit in the game until the score was 3-0 in the 6th.

Windthorst defeats Archer City 7-6 in a wild one on 4/13 which ties them with AC for first place in district with one loss to each other.

Being a statman, stat guy, whatever you want to call me (dumb A**), the one thing that drives me crazy is not doing stats "correctly". I noticed a school in our area had a walk-off win and reported the score as 11-9 instead of 10-9. When you are the home team once the winning run scores in the last inning of the game, the game is over. Just because another kid would have scored they don't get credit for a run scored, nor does the batter get additional RBIs unless it's a Home Run. Also it's not a double if batter takes the extra base on throw to the plate, but whatever......This is VARSITY BALL we are playing, not little league.....

De Leon vs Albany
In my opinion, 2 of the best teams in region 2 squaring off next week
Whitely vs Hamilton
2 great pitchers on the mound, with big leaugue potential

Refugio and Riviera Kaufer play a one game series. Both team will have their aces pitching. It should be a great game. Either team could win this one.

Riviera Kaufer knocks out Refugio 1-0. Kaufer with a 2 out single in the 4th was their only hit of the game. Runner moved to second on balk. Next batter bunted and Refugio's only error of the game allowed run to score. Refugio had runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out in T7 but next two batters struck out. Castillo struck out 13 in a complete game effort, while Kelley struck out 14 in 6 innings.

DeLeon knocks out Albany 6-5. Albany took a 5-0 lead after the 1st thanks to a grand slam, but DeLeon would come back with a 5 spot of their own in the 4th thanks to a walk, 3 hit batters and a couple of errors. DeLeon would score the go ahead run in T6 on a Double followed by a single.

I have never seen a call blown that bad. It wasnt even close. But hey deleon got the win so who cares. That ump would be a scratch me for. Homeplate also for not overturning that.

I think, De Leon choose 2 from regular season and Albany choose 2 officials
I don't know if third base ump lost the ball or wanted Albany to win
The home plate ump was one of the Albany chosen and he didn't rule to overturn it
Who's to say the kid at the plate doesn't single and drive in 2 and end up scoring 4 overall
I think the kids from Albany let down after the failed call

Ill probably make the Saturday game or games in Snyder. I'm still wore out from the Post series. It got a bit hot last Saturday. If it hadn't been for the good shade in the dugout I don't know if I could have made the full game. Had a spectator have to go into the ER after the game from heat exhaustion. We even had light rain and pea size hail during the game.

We have 2 that can throw a full game, two that are good for 4 or 5 innings and a couple that can finish a game out.
The first game should be a pitchers duel. Pitchers are a weird bunch, some bring it from the first pitch and some need a batter or two to get dialed in. 1st inning will Friday will tell us what kind of game we are going to have. Wish I could take off and make the drive to Abilene. Ill be in the dugout in Snyder taking pictures Saturday.

Best ever in DeLeon? or 2A?

2014 State Champion Douglass shut out their last 6 playoff opponents, winning the semifinals 9-0 and winning the State Championship in 5 innings 10-0. They won by shut-out 21 times.

No doubt this will be one of the tougher series they have faced all year. Our guys like finishing hard and play better from behind. They can give up a few runs early and put up 3 to 5 runs an inning from the 4th on. Once they start clicking they don't slow down. This series will be won on whom makes the least amount of errors. The first game may be a 2 to 1 game but we will see big numbers on Saturday.

Courtney Golden team went to state and loss in semis

Throwing strikes will be the key....in Game 3 of ND-Post both teams walked 10 batters Post hit 5 other batters, while ND plunked 3.

In Game 1 ND committed 3 errors in the first which allowed Post to score 5 runs. This late is the playoffs you can't give a team extra outs. Post walked 9 batters in 6 IP in the Game 1.

Game 2 New Deal had a couple of errors that extended innings allowing Post to score 3 runs when innings should have been over.

Leaky defense this time of the year will get you beat.

Windthorstfan, the walks were high because they were not throwing to our batters. Pushing everything inside and getting alot of batters hit.We had some weird bounces off the carpet. The 5 we spotted in inning 1 was more along the lines of the pitcher taking an inning to find his stride. Bad inning to say the least. And bad time for a slow start. If the series goes three, depth of pitching will be key.

Deleon has enough pitching to go three no problem. In my opinion Blake Bellomy is our 2 even though they use kevin on that spot. He never even seen the mound vs Albany.

That's a shame to lose a kid to injury.

Just my opinion but I think Deleon has more than enough pitching to get past New Deal. I don't think Deleon has the defensive inefficiencies that can really cost a team this late in the playoffs. Not taking anything away from New Deal as they have earned their way to this round, but I don't think they have faced that great of competition in the playoffs. IMO the two best teams in Region I are Deleon and Albany and Deleon took care of Albany last week. The district 8 teams have dominated Region I for the last couple of years then there is everyone else!!

That right there tells you all you need to know!!! ND coach obviously didn't think his #1 could beat Deleon's #1 so he's saving him hoping he can beat their #2 with his #1. We've done the same thing in the past.

DeLeon scores 6 in the first. New Deal had an error that extended the inning per their GC. Probably doesn't matter but should have been out of the inning down 3-0

Bellomy singles on 3-2 count in the bottom of the fifth to drive Deleon's 11th run of the game as Deleon run rules New Deal 11-1. Interestingly Deleon scored 6 times in the 1st and 5 and in the 5th. They all count the same in the end though.

BRICE Whitley must have made a believer out of New Deal
We will see if our 2 and 3 can keep New Deal O in check?

Tanner Seeley comes off the benchd and lays down a suicide squeeze bunt B8 as New Deal forces a game 3 4-3.
