Thank you sir. Both teams have talent and anytime you match up these two Archer County rivals the barn doors are liable to be clean blown off. :))

Should be a good one.

Also, congrats on Tolar knocking off #2 Bosqueville.

No offense taken and yes, Windthorstfan, one and the same.

Thanks WinthorstDad. We have a very weak district so we weren't sure how decent a team we had this year. We have outscored district opponents 87-1 in the four games we have played. Sure doesn't help you get ready for the playoffs when you don't have much competition. Gorman was our closest game 10-0 so they will probably be the #2 team in our district as long as the wheels don't fall off for us.

That is one thing Belcher does is load up tough tournaments for our kids to play. Wins may not come early but we will be ready for district play and the playoffs. Although the first tournament we played in this year we only had a 1/3 of our team due to basketball and the JV guys took some lumps at the varsity level. I like watching our team batting average rise from sub .200 in pre-district to almost .300 by the end of district. Archer City and Seymour both have good programs as well. Petrolia seems to be up and down was surprised they dropped as much this year after pushing us last year.

Our coach tried to schedule a tough tournament for us as well but it was during that snow/ice period and it got canceled. The Glen Rose tournament is fairly good. We played mostly small 3A and 4A schools. Crawford may have been the only other 2A school there. We got second in that tournament.

Dogfan! How in the world are you?

Yep, finally made my way back to 1A/2A. Missed all you guys when we moved up for that brief two year stint. Tolar is growing (mostly due to Granbury transfers) but I hope we are in 2A to stay. Fingers crossed on that.

Our boys lost a close one last night 8-9 to Electra. We are just too up and down this year for me to get a read on. Playoff team? Most likely Regional team? Don't bet on it

Archer City more or less clinched the district title with an 8-1 win over Seymour to move to 9-0 in district play. Still have Windthorst and Petrolia on their schedule but a game against Vernon Northside who have forfeited four of the five games they "played" I would put my money on AC to win even if VN doesn't forfeit again!!! Seymour dropped to 6-3 in district. Seymour finishes with Electra, Quanah, and VN?.

Windthorst dumped Petrolia 10-0 in 5 innings to improve to 5-3 in district. Play Quanah today, who is 0-8 on the season and have been outscored 7-134. Then the big game on Friday at home against Archer City, suppose to wrap up district play by hosting a double header against VN on Tuesday.

Archer City 9-0 (@ Windthorst, Petrolia, VN?)
Seymour 6-3 (Electra, Quanah, VN?)
Windthorst 5-3 (@Quanah, Archer City, VN 2X?)
Petrolia 5-5 (@Electra, @ Archer City)
Electra 4-5 (@ Seymour, Petrolia, VN?)
Vernon Northside 0-5
Quanah 0-8

Windthorst was just notified that Vernon Northside can not field a team for 4/28 double-header and will forfeit both games to the Trojans.

The Trojans took down Quanah as expected, 23-0 to clinch a playoff spot. Electra knocked off Petrolia 7-5 to mathematically stay in the hunt although realistically won't happen as they need to beat Seymour and then have Quanah beat Seymour to force a tie for 3rd.

Congrats on making the playoffs! We still have three district games to play and with the rain today and tonight, it's gonna be tough to get those games in.

I understand. We've had to move some games this season to Henrietta's turf fields. I believe our AD is strongly considering moving our fields to turf in the near future as we lost out on tournament gate receipts and concession monies my moving games.

Saw Tolar dominate the running events at the area track meet yesterday. Darn, you have some fast kids. Good luck and hope you nail down a playoff spot.

Hadn't heard about moving to turf - I thought the games for the 1st tournament were planned for Henrietta to keep some wear and tear off of the field due to not being able to water the field cause of watering restrictions.

District certification is Tuesday, May 5th, so there is still a little wiggle room to play with granted there is also the Regional Track Meet that you will have to schedule around.

Tolar 9-0, Gorman 7-2, and DeLeon 7-2 have the playoff spots locked up.

Tolar plays both of them as well as Ranger 4-9 overall, 4-7 in district, Gorman and Deleon also face each other (Deleon won the first game), Gorman also has Gordon 2-8, 2-8 while Deleon has Lipan 2-9, 1-9

Some of the movers and shakers of Windthorst spoke to the AD about possibility of turf fields during those tournaments we played at Henrietta. I found it amusing he was able to provide quotes (numbers) for each field right off the top of his head.

With all the speed I saw at Tolar, I'm surprised they weren't at At&T stadium for the high school championships. Seems like you just sent five guys deep and throw the ball as far as you can. :)

Archer City completes a perfect district season by defeating Windthorst 2-1 in 8 innings yesterday. Seymour and Windthorst await the completion of 10-2A play to see who they will face in the playoffs in all likelihood Alvord and Olney. But their finishing order will probably come down to a playoff game or coin flip. Archer City will face the winner of the game between the 3rd place finisher of D11 and 2nd place of D12 in the second round. Blue Ridge and Dodd City were the Co-champions of D12. Both teams have only 1 loss on the season which was to each other.

Good luck Trojans. Get that bi-district trophy!

Graford made a big investment last year and built a new athletic complex across the street from the high school. New turf baseball and softball fields and a new track and field facility as well. Both baseball and softball have their own hitting facilities with several pitching machines.

Nice facilities at Graford. Competitive baseball was fun with Windthorst defeating Olney in both games 6-5. I belive hitting was about even but Olney only had two pitchers and they appeared to be gassed towards end of game two. Windthorst used four pitchers each game and it might have made the difference.

Next up for the Trojans is Muenster on Thur/Fri/Sat in Bowie, Tx

They out hit us in both games 11-6, 9-2 (by our Gamechanger scorer) and 12-6, 10-5 (Olney Gamechanger scorer). We only used three pitchers in each game. Looking at our district games our pitchers didn't throw a lot of pitches - 76, 72, 66, 64, 62, 60 before being removed. I looked at some of tournament games and we had a few games of 100, and 90s, but once district rolled around it appears they were all on a pitch count.

In the Olney series one pitcher threw in both games (20 in one and 25 in other). I think we could have thrown anybody on Saturday to get through a possible determining game. Looking through Olney's gamechanger for the season they had 3 or 4 other kids throw against the lower teams in their district but for the most part the two that threw against us pitched the games against the upper echelon teams in district.

Graford is a Chapter 41 school. Or at least they used to be before the fires at PK a couple of years ago.

Chapter 41 (the Robin Hood rule) allows poor schools to share in the wealth of richer, nearby schools. Mineral Wells is 20 miles away and the only schools larger than 2A as well. Did Mineral Wells share funding with Graford for this project, perhaps?

No don't think so. If the Chapter 41 schools don't spend the tax money they bring in, a percentage of it goes to the state to help pay for the poorer districts. Justin Northwest is a Ch. 41 district and look at their facilities.
