What are your thoughts on week 3???

Refugio might not win but they came to play. Trailing 14 to 13 at half. I do now see they WILL be able come 2A div 1 time. Edna is huge. Refugio big passing game IF Sophmore can really get better. Everyone is soph and juniors gonna be really good in 2023 and 24. Lots of speed.

Refugio played well in 2nd half gave up 8 in garbage points. Looked impressive tonite. 40 to 22. Coach got his 200th win at school. 200 wins to 19 losses not bad. Edna good Div. 1 school in 3A.

Timpson is for real.

Timpson is definately the favorite. Long season...in small classes injuries play a big role. Plus in 2019 i certainly thought San Augustine would break thru for region 3 after reaching semis for 3rd straight year. I guess wait and see.

Tenaha was highly overrated.

Shiner has to clean up mistakes. They still won. But coughing up the ball in the redzone just can’t keep happening. 3 turnovers, 2 of them in scoring position. Shiner had the ability to win this game by 21 instead of 1.

Coleman had 5 or 6 fumbled snaps week 1 vs Mason and lost 3 of them maybe 4. Can't remember exactly because it happened almost every drive it seemed. Since Mason we haven't fumbled our center to QB snap once and our offensive output is looking more like it was expected to be. Week 3 specifically...Coleman ran the ball at will, and for the most part the passing game was explosive. Defensively we have to get a more consistent pass rush and we'll be fine.

Since switching to a 3-4 defense in 2015, Goldthwaite has given up 2,241 points.

The good news is the kids are still giving it their all and the offense scored 14 points this week.

I think Mart is the favorite in D2 right now, not sure if Albany with their numbers will be able to go blow for blow with them later in the season. Granger is better than Burton hands down. I watched them both in person. Granger has a running back that is one of the best athletes I have ever seen at the 2A level. But, if he gets hurt I do not think Granger will be near as competitive considering he touches the ball 40 times a game. I feel for Holland fans, I have been to two of their games now to watch Burton and Granger and both times bone headed turn overs keep them from winning the games. On the bright side for them, looking at their program they handed out at the game, every player they have that is really talented are freshman or sophmores. Thorndale seems solid, they have a QB and WR combo that is hard to beat. I plan on going to the Hearne and Chilton game this week. That seems to be the most exciting match up to me in the CenTex area.
