Last year Washington won the 200 at state with a 21.49. This sounds fast but the 1A record was in 1985 with Stanley Kerr running a 20.64, I saw that meet and he was flying. But that day got even faster when Roy Williams ran 20.24 to set the state record. Williams also still owns the Nat record also with a 20.13.

I enjoyed the area meet at Munday and Mr. Washington was again phenomenal. He almost has a straight-up running posture but it seems to work for him very well. My son had a couple of fifth place finishes but he set P.R.'s in both events so he did as well as he could. I was proud to see many Archer County kids advance to the Regional meet in Abilene Friday and I wish them all the best.

Mile is not what they do well. Haven't last several, they go top heavy on 400 and 800 relays, therefore, mile not as good.

The year Ramos was a sr., they could've easily competed w/Munday for mile title. Same way w/Munday in 800 relay yrs they were dominant in mile, them and Stamford would have been a show down in the 800 meter relay. Imagine DEE and James and/or ramos down the stretch. but none ran it during the regular track season. in a State qualifiers relay they had never run the mile and beat Haskell who had qualified for state meet and beat'em soundly.

They gear more towards the sprint relays.

Stamford and Anson were very strong in the 400 and 800 relays. Both beat the other teams with ease and have a good chance to advance in the regional meet.

@zduncansports: Munday's L.J. Collier just threw a 194-2 discus in Region II-A Div. I prelims. That's ludicrous and would have won I-5A by 10 feet.

@sportsfreaknut: Windthorst's Haven Canada wins the girls discus at 131-09 #RegionII1Atrack

Alto will be sending to state sprint relay, mile relay, 800m, both hurdles, shot-put, discuss, long jump, 100m , 2 in the 200m.

Alto is Regional Champs

Our 800m relay got DQ'd a week earlier , shame I was told their time was fastest in state.

Our girls will be going in the 800 relay and mile relay! Good job, Beaverettes!!!!

Went and watched Stamford win the regional meet yesterday in Abilene. Qualified state in the Triple, LJ, 100,200 and 800 releay, only had 7 kids competing. They normaly run Washington in the 200,sprint relay and 800 relay. But in Area, they ran him in the 100 and 200 but if they would have left him in the sprint relay, they would have won it also. Not second guessing the coaching just that they gave up some points and a couple of kids lost the chance to runin the state meet. We were eating a hambuger at a little joint close to the track and the Munday coaches came in with Collier and I asked how he had done in the discus, over 193, he is a hoss. Also saw a sophmore girl from Italy, totaly dominate on the anchor leg of the sprint relay, ran a 11.3 100(could have place in the boys100) and ran a 23 something in the 200. This girl is gonna have people trying to sign here even as a soph! Wasington had a good day 10.9 in the 100 and 21.9 in the 200. Hoping ot get to see him run for the last time in Austin. Stamford had a sophmore kid that had the 3rd best qualifing time in the hgh hurdles, bur nerves got to him and he jumped and DQ.

Sounds like no one from San Saba had a chance of making state. Best chance we had was on girls side.

Valley View finished third with 60 pts. Injury to Boaz hurt us in making pts for a chance to win regional meet. won district in long jump & would have placed at regionals i think but it was our 4 x 200 that suffered With him on that we were beating collinsville who won the regional meet in that event. When Boaz couldnt go coaches scratched Sparkman from it also...

injury bug is part of it but it hurts to loose your best athlete.

Swammy, Collinsville(1:31.4) didn't win the 800 relay, Stamford(1:30.27) won it. But hate to hear about injuries, no matter the sport.

Not much money in track better have good grades to qualify for academic scholarships to cover the portion of the partial athletic scholarship. NCAA schools are only allowed to give out 18 track scholarships to females (12.6 males) which also includes the cross country team.

I just took a look at all 4 regions for 1A div 1 and noticed that the boy from San Saba (Ridge Smith) would have won reg 2 and 3 and tied with kid from Mason for first in reg 4 in 800M. Does he have a chance of going to State Meet as a wild card?

Just looked at UIL site for Sate Meet and Ridge Smith is listed in 800M. WTG Ridge!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great to see Lindsay back in the ranks of track. They have a very young team that should only get better. Alot of talent beginning to shine through. Not sure when they had their last run at State in the Mile Relay and several individual events, but they are making Lindsay proud. Best of Luck to all the Knights and Lindsay Gibbs on girl's side.

Alto wins state! 4x100 ran a 41.88 , saw somewhere that was .04 of 1a record?? A shame our 4x200 got DQ'd , they had fastest time in state ( at that time ). Look for most these guys next year as just about every runner was soph or jr 8-)

Just got home from Austin. Saw some amazing talent tonight. Congratulations to Alto for winning the meet. We had calculated that Alto had to get 5th or lower in the mile relay in order for us to edge y'all out but you edged us out instead. Falls City boys put on a show, and this was the best meet I remember. Saw some boys and girls that could run. FC's mile relay ran a 3:20. Our 800 relay won in fine form, too. Joseph ran a heck of an open 400. That 100m race was down to the wire. Washington from Stamford had a beautiful 200 race. Alto boys were smooth in that 400m relay. Watching the 5A boys run was exciting, too. Never had been to the 5A meet. It was all I imagined and more! Congratulations to all the participants at state, particularly the medal winners, and our Falls City teams. Our girls ran their heart out but came a bit short this year. We were there and that says a lot!!!! Congratulations!!!!

Congrats to all the kids that made it to the State meet, they have worked damn hard to get there. And no matter where they finished, nothing to be ashamed of, when you get the top 9 athletes or teams in the whole state, quite an accomplishment. You are right BG, the 5A is something to see, escpecially the mile relay! I was fortunate enough to get to run in the state meet(a LONG time ago)and it is special. On to baseball and pulling for the Stamford Dawgs to make their 5th straight state tournament and get the monkey off their back and WIN it all this year, it's gonna be tough with all the great baseball teams in the state year. GO BLUE

Yes, it was awesome! Saw the Converse Judson track team at Chili's in San Marcos on the way home. Talked to one of the kids from the mile relay who still had on his medal around his neck. He was quite excited still. Also, I might add while in the parking lot walking to the car after the meet, a couple of Mason's kids stopped me (obviously had our FC State Championship shirt on) and told me congratulations for FC's accomplishments. Stood and talked to the kids for a minute. Very polite boys. In this day and age I was very impressed by their politeness and sincerity.

Was very nice to watch Lindsay once again competing at State Track Meet!!! They will be back next year even stronger. Interesting that our mile relay team consisted of 2 (Anderle - Junior & Otto - Freshman) that are the younger parts of the Anderle, Otto team that won the Mile Relay 3 years straight for Lindsay and State Championship in 2005. Wade Hanks, only a Junior, will be back too. Congratulations to Lauren Gibbs who now moves on to her track career at OU. Hope to see many more Knights in Austin next year. Very proud of all our Lindsay athletes!!!!

Valley View boys had a good showing. 2 golds & 2 bronnze i think ... 5th in points. We will have Davidson & Barnes back again next year in distance races and hopefully they can make it back to state. Sparkman hopefully will make it back as well & repeat Gold in 300's and even bump up the bronze to gold in the 110"s next year. We should have a strong mile & 4x200 relay next year as well. Speed is starting to return coming up from younger classes which we have lacked so to speak...We have had good speed but it has been our big kids like Boaz but not the 4x 100 speed.

We will have a lot of kids gravatating to baseball because our BB team has a real shot to be very good next few years as we started 7 soph this year...I love the fact that program is finally taking off a bit I hope we maintain a good track program.
The most under utilized pc of football equipment is 5 man & 7 man blocking sledd
