Ouch!! As you say to be the champs you have to beat the champs. Hard to come back from that, wasn't there, but probably part of the reason Iola dominated the 5th set.

Archer City vs Iola for the 2A state championship should be a great match! Iola will dig all day long and wait for their opponent to make misakes. If Archer City is patient with this, then they have a great chance to win the title. Good luck!

Yes it shredded their sails. And iola is good at what they do not going to overpower, but like hitting into a wall just keeps coming back to ya

Iola refused to lose. AC had leads in all 4 sets but Iola dug deep to find a way to win.

AC lead 12-7, 17-14, before Iola stormed back and scored 5 straight to take 19-17 lead before winning set 25-20.

Early 2nd set had 12-9 before Iola went on 10-3 run to take 19-15 lead in 25-21 set.

AC had 24-14 lead in 3rd Iola rallied twice to tie before Archer pulled out the 27-25 set.

AC lead 10-3 before Iola cut it to 12-10, AC had 22-20 but Iola scored 3 in a row for 23-22, AC had set point at 26-25 but Iola scored final 3 points of match.

Once again I am so happy for coach Miss Mcdougald! All the years of making it to state and coming up short she has now got two in a row! She coached my daughter's and is a class act all the way around!

Proud of our Archer County schools (Archer City and Windthorst) for making long playoff runs. Archer City played hard but hats off to Iola as they are one scrappy team.

I'd also like to add congrats to Mindy Patton (former Windthorst & MSU graduate) who led Tioga to the 1A state championship. Great job!

Congrats to your ladies. Wish we had played a bit better but our ladies battled hard. tWe seemed out of sync uncustomary sevice errors from our better servers. But yall are damn good and deserve it. Your coach does a helluva a job. Very good defensively. Holes are hard to come by against y'all's D. Congrats again well done

Iola will be good again next year no doubt but the two seniors they are losing accounted for 48 of 61 kills and they also contributed 43 of the 88 digs in the State Championship game.
