Hey Purple Punch, how many did the Punchers have out this morning? A few over 80 by count. Playing varsity, JV, JV/Fr schedules. Had huge turnout all summer for strength and conditioning too. I can't think of any down in Region 4, maybe somebody that'll sneak in the 3 or 4 seed, but don't see many surprises at the top of the Districts. The Puncher Club is very, very active, with a lot of members. They have a BBQ for both teams at the home scrimmage, have raised $$$$$$ for the school, build things, and work closely with the coaches. Mason is blessed.

I don't know that much about Lovelady, but that top 10 has a bunch of high-quality teams with potent histories. Weimer should be higher, but those are quality football teams.

Mason plays a much better pre-district schedule. Goldthwaite (DCTF#13), JohnsonCity (4th 13AAA), Comfort (3rd 13AAA), Iraan (#2 AA D2), Hawley (#12), Ballinger (3rd 3AAA). Scrimmage Blanco and Sonora.

With those wide receivers and that line, adding JM as a running threat should allow the QB to have a very high yards-per-pass. I'm sure JM will also play QB / wildcat QB a lot also. Honestly don't see a downside for them - their opponents, however, might not enjoy it too much.

Starr resigned as Chancellor today, an "act of conscience". But he remains a professor at the law school....

Thanks, Windy and other contributors. District 15 had my vote when the OP asked, and the evidence supports that. However, the breakdowns exposed other veins of high quality, and some who don't hold up to closer scrutiny.

Puncher Dome is unique. Had a tornado in the 90's that stripped much of the roof and damaged the supports. After the insurance settlement the district had to decide whether to remove the roof or pay the considerable difference. No hesitation- restore the roof. A cost consideration - boards don't rot...

If say a majority would. I prefer 4 but the history here includes Junction, Sonora, Big Lake and other west Texas towns. The other direction is San Saba, Goldthwaite, Early, etc. The rivalry with Shiner is new but strong, and Refugio is a budding rivalry, but the rest of 4 they don't know.

Mason is in rebuilding mode, graduating 17 seniors, and had so many injuries and so many different starters it's hard to figure out. By my calculations returning starters (of 2 or more games) include the top 4 running backs, assuming 3 return from surgeries ready to play, a TE, 2 OL, a WR. On defens...

Yes, my understanding is that Mason is keeping a couple of old rivals and a district team going up, but three local teams that are 3A D2 said no. And we lost 17 seniors! Seems like they would be standing in line to play us, unlike RHS, which has 'em all coming back.
