Mason has 84 playing high school football, so, yeah, I'm sure the Bobcats have 96 in their workouts, 7-12. In towns with their tradition and competitiveness, you need a great reason to NOT play football.

Many years ago, when I was a pup, I was trading film with the coach at Weimer. He has been there a long time, so I asked him how he did it. Looked me right in the eye and said "Six. Don't ever win more or they will expect you to do it every year, and don't lose more or they will have a reason t...

Thanks, Big C. If you saw the 2011 Punchers, and I know you did, well, this ain't them. Gonna look quite different this year than any year of this decade, with smaller, quicker, very athletic lines on both sides of the ball; stocky, quick running backs, and big receivers. Defensively, the linebacker...

Fun to watch, fun to play, and great conditioning- their wrist devices say 5+ miles per game of sprinting. Amazed at how much better we are at pass defense than when we started, and how much better our routes, timing, and receivers' concentration have gotten. And, it gives you an opportunity to see ...

Who's got a team going to state this week? Mason just started this year, and only went to one SQT, at Burnet. Went 2-1, losing to Cameron Yoe, which won it, and we were the two smallest schools there. Saw Jim Ned and others had SQTs, so I'm sure some smaller schools are qualified. Our kids love it a...

@maninblack thanks for the info on the Wildcats. We expected to play the Yorktown variety as they looked strong on film, but Normangee played a better game. In Region 4 there are a lot of unanswered questions regarding the 3 recently dominant powers. Yet, they retur...
